Brian Burns Could Receive Large Extension
2 years agoFootball Outsiders' Aaron Schatz predicts that the Carolina Panthers will sign defensive end Brian Burns to a large contract extension this offseason in order to establish him as a foundational piece for their franchise while also lowering his $16 million salary cap cost for the 2023 season. The fourth-year player had 12.5 sacks in 2022, which was a new career-high in his fourth NFL campaign. Burns has made the Pro Bowl in back-to-back years and finished last season with a career-high 63 tackles (34 solo), 17 tackles for loss, 22 QB hits and a forced fumble in 16 games for the Panthers. The 24-year-old pass-rusher will be highly coveted as a defensive lineman in IDP leagues in 2023 after he finished eighth at the position this past season.
