Brendan Rodgers Could Play In Games Next Week
5 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (shoulder) said he'll likely start as the designated hitter in Cactus League games next week, with his spring debut at the keystone coming a few days after that. The 23-year-old is behind in camp and is unlikely to make his season debut until late April or early May after having offseason surgery to fix the labrum in his right shoulder. He's been doing full baseball activities for around three weeks and "feels strong and ready to go." Rodgers hit .224/.272/.250 in 25 games last year after making his MLB debut on May 17. Garrett Hampson and Ryan McMahon will split second base duties until Rodgers is ready for game action.
