Blue Jays Calling Up Gabriel Moreno
Gabriel Moreno is being called up from the minors and will join the team in Detroit and be activated at some point during their weekend series against the Tigers, according to a source. It comes after Danny Jansen (hand) was put on the injured list on Tuesday with a small fracture of his hamate bone. Alejandro Kirk has hit very well for the Jays, but Toronto felt like it was time to call up the No. 4 prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Moreno, 22, was hitting .323/.377/.406 with a homer, 23 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases in 35 games for Triple-A Buffalo this year. He makes consistent, hard contact and should display above-average power at the next level, immediately making him worth adding off the waiver wire in mixed leagues.
