Blake Snell Lined Up To Start Opening Day
2 years agoSan Diego Padres left-hander Blake Snell appears lined up to take the ball for the team's Opening Day game against the Colorado Rockies next Thursday. Yu Darvish was originally scheduled to start on Opening Day, but concerns about his workload due to the World Baseball Classic will likely push him back. Joe Musgrove (toe) will also miss the first week of the season after breaking his toe in a weight-room accident this spring. The matchup will be a nice one for Snell, but the 30-year-old southpaw has had trouble starting off his seasons on a strong note in the past. He went 8-10 with a 3.38 ERA (2.80 FIP), 1.20 WHIP and 32 percent strikeout rate in 24 starts in 2022 in his second year in SD.
