Bailey Ober Could Be Odd Man Out In Twins Rotation
2 years agoWith the addition of right-hander Pablo Lopez via a trade with the Miami Marlins on Friday, the Minnesota Twins got a big addition to their starting rotation. The Twins now have the option of using a six-man rotation or making another trade. They could also be in the position to start right-hander Bailey Ober at Triple-A St. Paul. In addition to Lopez, they also currently have Sonny Gray, Kenta Maeda, Tyler Mahle and Joe Ryan for the rotation. Ober was only able to make 11 starts due to injury in 2022, but he was very solid for the Twins when available, going 2-3 with a 3.21 ERA (2.92 FIP), 1.05 WHIP and 22.5 percent strikeout rate in his second MLB season. The 27-year-old may be out of luck for a rotation spot to begin the season, but if he stays healthy, he should be a rotation contributor at some point in 2023.
