Austin Slater Doing Some Baseball Activities
New York Yankees outfielder Austin Slater (hamstring) is progressing in his recovery from a strained left hamstring and has begun participating in some baseball activities and on-field drills. The 32-year-old suffered the injury on Aug. 4 in just his third game after joining the Yankees in a trade with the Chicago White Sox. It was estimated then that he would miss four to six weeks, so the reserve outfielder should make it back sometime in September. Slater has hit .223/.284/.400 with five homers, 12 RBI, and 20 runs scored in 142 plate appearances this season. UPDATE: Slater is starting a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.
