Austin Meadows Tests Positive For COVID-19
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been placed on the injured list. It's why the 25-year-old was absent from summer camp over the last week. We're not sure if Meadows had any symptoms, but there's now a good chance that he might not be ready for Opening Day on July 24. Meadows broke out in 2019 by hitting .291 with 33 home runs and 12 stolen bases, making him a top-15 fantasy outfielder in 2020 drafts. There could be more upside, too, although his price will surely drop at least a little after testing positive. The left-handed hitter's current ADP sits at 45. Stay tuned for more details on his potential return date. Tampa added lefty reliever Aaron Loup to the roster to replace Meadows. Yoshitomo Tsutsugo could play left field regularly if Meadows isn't ready, while Manuel Margot could also see more playing time.
