Alek Manoah Activated, Optioned to Triple-A
Alek Manoah (elbow) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo. To make room for Manoah on the 40-man roster, the team designated infielder Orelvis Martinez for assignment. Manoah is finally healthy after undergoing hybrid Tommy John surgery in June 2024, but with no openings in the Blue Jays' rotation, he'll continue to work in the minors. The former All-Star, 27, made five starts with Buffalo on his rehab assignment and recorded a 3.09 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP, 18 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 23 1/3 innings. Manoah may finish the season there, but with Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, and Shane Bieber potentially hitting free agency over the winter, he should have a chance to rejoin Toronto's rotation next spring.
