Albert Pujols Unsure Of Plans Past 2021
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols is undecided on whether he'll continue his career beyond the 2021 season, according to a source. The 41-year-old is entering the final year of his $10-year, $240 million deal with the Angels. The future Hall of Famer could open this season backing up Jared Walsh at first base after Walsh slashed .337/.368/.774 with nine home runs in September in his rookie season in 2020. Shohei Ohtani could also take away designated hitter at-bats from Pujols, limiting him to a part-time or bench role. He enters the year in fifth place on baseball's all-time home run list with 662 homers. Pujols is also second on the all-time RBI list with 2,100. The Machine hasn't had an OPS above .800 since 2012 and is no longer a fantasy asset in mixed leagues.
