Chicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. was optioned off of the active roster Monday to make way for Cameron Maybin, who was acquired from Detroit. Once a highly-regarded prospect, Almora has become primarily a defensive replacement in 2020, receiving just 34 plate appearances in 28 games. While Ian Happ had already claimed full-time center field duties, the removal of Almora from the mix reinforces his unimpeded path to at-bats. Whether a change of scenery is in store for Almora remains to be seen, but it’s likely his best path to reestablishing fantasy relevance.--Jesse Borek
