Aaron Nola Nearing Rehab Assignment
Aaron Nola (ankle/rib) is set to throw a live batting practice session at Yankee Stadium this weekend before beginning a rehab assignment next week, reports Matt Gelb of The Athletic. He is progressing well after facing live hitters for the first time last week. The 32-year-old last pitched in a game on May 14 before going on the injured list with a sprained ankle. While rehabbing the ankle injury, he developed a stress fracture in his rib cage that shut him back down until recently. It's been a long road to recovery for the former ace, who will be looking to turn his season around once he is healthy. The right-hander posted an inflated 6.16 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through nine starts to begin the season.
