49ers Expect Jeff Wilson Jr. Back This Season
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch expressed optimism about running back Jeff Wilson Jr.'s (knee) chances of returning this season. "It's not in the next couple weeks, but kind of beyond that … He's doing really well. He's had some real positive breakthroughs in the last couple of weeks in his recovery," Lynch said. Wilson hasn't played at all this year after having meniscus surgery, and he remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Rookie Elijah Mitchell continues to lead this backfield ahead of fellow rookie Trey Sermon, but JaMycal Hasty (ankle) will make his return off Injured Reserve on Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. It's unclear exactly what Wilson's role might be later this year if he can make it back, but he might be worth stashing if you have the room in deeper leagues.
