ANALYSIS: The power is real for Orelvis Martinez and it is spectacular. The Blue Jays second base prospect has developed 60-grade power on his rise to the No. 2 overall prospect in Toronto’s system.
With 15 homers and 45 RBI for Triple-A Buffalo this season to go with a .836 OPS, the 22-year-old is knocking on the door for a major-league promotion. The problem is the Blue Jays have a lot of infield/utility depth at the major league level. The reality, however, may be that none of the likes of Davis Schneider, Spencer Horwitz, and Ernie Clement possess the power potential that Martinez boasts.

The Dominican sensation is not without holes in his game as his batting average could be a liability when given an opportunity in the majors. But infielders, especially second basemen, with pop don’t grow on trees. Planted in the Blue Jays lineup, Martinez could be a dangerous bat that could aid fantasy teams in the power categories late this season.
