NFL Survivor Pool Picks: Week 8 Targets and Avoids Include Broncos, Lions, Packers, Ravens, more

Amon-Ra St. Brown - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

The top NFL Week 8 survivor pool picks for the 2024 NFL season. Kevin's Week 8 survivor league pool targets and avoids -- expert picks for survivor leagues.

Welcome to our NFL Survivor Pool Picks for Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season! There are so many different pools, fantasy leagues, weekly bets, and futures bets that it's hard to decide what to do with these choices. But survivor pools are the oldest and simplest leagues out there. All you have to do is pick a team and have them win, but you can't choose them again.

All season long, I'll bring you weekly survivor pool advice for NFL teams to target and teams to avoid each week. Survivor league strategy is a major part of winning your pools, and this article will help you through the 2024 NFL season. We're ready to preview Week 8 and get you through the early season weeks.

We're in the thick of bye week season, so the Survivor picks get tougher and tougher by the week. It's the first week since Week 4 with no teams on bye, so the pool of teams is expanded to all 32 teams, minus the teams you've selected of course. Let's look at some teams to target and avoid for survivor pools in Week 8.

Week 8 Survivor

Now, let's look at the survivor pool pick recommendations to target and avoid for Week 8.

Top Survivor Pool Picks to Target for Week 8

Denver Broncos vs. CAR

The 4-3 Denver Broncos are a pretty massive home favorite against the Carolina Panthers, with the oddsmakers giving the Panthers almost double-digit points at 9.5. Why is that? Well, the gift that keeps on giving, named Bryce Young. Young was named starting quarterback for the Panthers as Andy Dalton was in a car accident and had to turn back to Young.

Who knows if the Panthers would have done that, but even under Dalton, the team was struggling on offense as they essentially waved the white flag in the second quarter to of all quarterbacks, Marcus Mariota.

The Broncos are a hard team to save as they shouldn't be this heavy of a favorite for the rest of the season unless something catastrophic happens, but with this specific circumstance the Panthers are in, Denver is one of the best plays of the week. With the Broncos staring down the barrel of the Ravens, Chiefs, and Falcons, Denver is my favorite play of the week in Survivor pools.

Detroit Lions vs. TEN

With the Lions looking like one of the top teams in the NFL now that they knocked off the Minnesota Vikings, you're not playing the Lions ever in the divisional slate of games. Well, it's a good thing that the NFC North plays the AFC South this season, because taking each team against the Titans looks like it's going to work out pretty well.

Detroit has the highest implied point total of the entire Week 8 slate at 27.75 and have the largest spread, being favored by 10.5 points.

The Lions at home, the punchless Titans having to go to Ford Field; that seems like a recipe for disaster for whoever is at quarterback for the Titans. You could go get a time machine and bring Warren Moon back and it might not help. They say anything can happen in the NFL, and it sure can. But the Titans, who just traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Chiefs, are rolling into the Motor City with Mason Rudolph?

The Lions should roll here. Take them if you want to secure a win this week; most of the field will do so as well.

Top Survivor Pool Picks to Avoid for Week 8

Green Bay Packers at JAX

While the Packers are 4.0-point favorites on the road in Jacksonville, this could be one of those trap games for Green Bay as the Jaguars showed some signs of life with their offense. Now granted, that was on another continent and this game will be played on American soil, but the Jaguars can move the ball and Tank Bigsby has been on a solid run of production in the wake of Travis Etienne's injury.

The Packers' offense under the Jordan Love regime has been pretty prolific and the Jaguars' defense has been pretty pathetic this season, but it doesn't take much to sway the tide in the NFL. Even though the Packers have taken care of business on the road against the Titans and the Rams, neither offense could compete with Green Bay.

This one can with the emerging Brian Thomas Jr., a healthy Evan Engram, Christian Kirk, Bigsby, and Trevor Lawrence. There are better matchups to use the Packers with; I wouldn't want to chance it this week.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. PHI

The Cincinnati Bengals are somehow 2.0-point favorites at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. That is a sentence I didn't think I would be typing in Week 8 considering how the season started for the Bengals, but here we are!

With one of the higher over/under point totals of the slate at 48 games, there should be enough offense on both sides and with both defenses below average in defensive EPA per play, we know there's going to be some fireworks.

I just can't see myself picking against Saquon Barkley the way he's running after coming off the revenge game of revenge games against the Giants last week, plus a healthy A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jalen Hurts? Both teams have underachieved this season, but the Eagles are a bit better of a team than the Bengals.

People will look at the point spread and get their idea of how teams play based on that, but picking against Philadelphia and then having to sweat that out seems like not great process if you ask me.
