The waiver wire is filled with under the radar play-making guards. Finding someone that averages more than five assists can be difficult at times if you don't already have an established star. The following potential waiver wire pickups all offer dynamic games that involve putting up solid assist numbers.

NBA Guards: Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups & Sleepers

Isaiah Canaan (PG, PHI) - 10% Owned

The Sixers have been on a crazy hot streak winning five out of their last 13 games. Every time the team has won, Canaan has had at least 14 points and one three. This doesn't mean much because the Sixers could go on another 20+ game losing streak, but it does show some improvement from Canaan and other Sixers players. Canaan has averaged 10.4 points with two three pointers made over the last two weeks while shooting 53% from the field and 85% from the free throw line. Ish Smith has no doubt taken over the Philadelphia guard situation, but his play has allowed both Canaan and rookie TJ McConnell better opportunities to produce in the minutes they play.

Norris Cole (PG/SG, NO) - 17% Owned

Norris Cole has been getting a lot playing time over the last month, averaging double digit points with 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He did this while Eric Gordon was healthy and starting in the backcourt with Tyreke Evans. Gordon is now out for over a month with an injury, while Evans is also banged up, meaning a starting gig for Cole with plenty of minutes and opportunities. Also, the team seems committed to keeping Holiday on the bench so he can run the second unit, starting Cole alongside Evans (with Holiday getting starter's minutes off the bench). Cole will have an extended chance to keep producing and should be considered in all deeper leagues.

Beno Udrih (PG, MIA) - 1% Owned

Basically the entire Miami Heat roster has been dealing with injuries over the last few months. Udrih is coming off an injury but should be a good play because Goran Dragic could be missing for a few more games with his own ailment. In the last two weeks when Udrih has played, he's been an adequate back up point guard that contributes better than average assists numbers. While the Heat continue to have injury problems, both Udrih and Tyler Johnson are good plug and play options.

Donald Sloan (PG/SG, BKN) - 27% Owned

With Jarrett Jack out for the season, the Nets had a huge hole to fill at point guard. Sloan has been the main guard in Brooklyn to step up and fill some of the Jarrett Jack void. Times are tough in Brooklyn right now, but Sloan is producing at decent level. In the last two weeks in just 23 minutes a game he's averaging 7.2 points and 5.8 assists a game. The Nets are just an assembly of really good D-league players and Brook Lopez at this point, so trusting anyone to produce every night is a risky proposition. But if you are desperate for assists, then Sloan is a viable option moving forward because no one else on the Nets seems talented enough to take the ball out of Sloan's hands.
