MLS Preview - Upcoming Games

With six games to be played between Sunday and Monday, Major League Soccer (MLS) goes into overdrive. In this article, we preview the games and how they may impact the upcoming play-offs.

Editor’s Note: Be sure to check out all of our articles, and read more about the EPL and Spanish La Liga at http://www.rotoballer.com/category/premier-league-bpl-epl-soccer

New England Revolution Vs Montreal Impact

This Eastern Conference match will feature two sides separated by just two points. The Revolution will be wary of choosing between worrying about their play-off place and making a Supporter’s Shield Challenge. With no wins in their last three games, they will be worried about their form ahead of the play-offs.

Montreal Impact can secure their place in the top six with a win over the Revolution. Didier Drogba is in irresistible form at the moment, which could just turn out to be the difference.

Real Salt Lake Vs FC Dallas

This is a game between two Western Conference sides which have contrasting takeaways from the match. Salt Lake failed to make the play-offs and should look at this match as just a face saver. A win against the conference toppers may not assuage their pain, but can soften the punch.

FC Dallas are still in contention for the Supporters’ Shield and should be ready to grab maximum points. Although their recent form is good, their successive losses to Sporting and L.A. Galaxy could still come back to haunt them.

The visitors have enough ammunition and ambition to go away with maximum points.

DC United Vs Chicago Fire

Another game between two sides with different outlooks towards the match itself. DC United have tapered down in the second half of the season after an impressive start. However, their progression to the play-offs gives them a chance to keep their form ready for the next stage.

Chicago Fire have shown how dismal a campaign can be and sit bottom of the Eastern Conference. They have very little to play for but would want their struggles to end on a high note. Bad signs for DC United? Not exactly!

New York Red Bulls Vs Philadelphia Union

This Eastern Conference game will feature the teams from either sides of the table. A loss to Toronto FC in the last game hurt their Supporters’ Shield chances, but they are yet to seal the regular season title. This could just be the tonic they require to overcome their recent loss.

Philadelphia carry no hopes to the match with their play-off hopes evaporating a long time ago. Their recent form isn’t anything to boast about either, with just one win of their last four matches.

New York should get back on track with an easy win.

Houston Dynamo Vs Seattle Sounders FC

This Western Conference match is another mismatch – of teams with varied ambitions. Houston Dynamo’s season hasn’t gone to plan and would love to see the season just end. Owen Coyle’s team will  be just looking forward to next season at this stage.

Seattle aren’t yet sure of their play-off place but should be safe if they do not lose this game. They should thank their lucky stars that they face Houston Dynamo at such an opportune time.

L.A. Galaxy Vs Portland Timbers

L.A. Galaxy are second behind FC Dallas in the Western Conference but are still fighting for the Supporters’ Shield. A win this weekend will keep their hopes alive but they need to overcome their patchy recent form to accomplish that.

Portland Timbers, on the other hand, are desperate for a win of their own. A win will secure their place in the top six. Having won two of their last three matches, this isn’t an impossible task for the visitors.

There could be a heartbreak for Galaxy as Portland could just sneak out with a win.
