MLB Hitter Cheat Sheet (6/5/16): Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Picks

JB's MLB DFS hitters for 6/5/16- daily fantasy baseball cheat sheet and lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings GPPs and cash games

Well, that weekend went by quick. Let's end it on a high note with some big winnings in your DFS accounts tonight. We have another full slate Sunday to enjoy today, but as we did yesterday, we also have numerous weather concerns to worry about. There are currently four outdoor games that have higher than a 50% chance of rain and/or thunderstorm. Keep an eye out for the radars, and double check before the start of the contests, especially on FanDuel which lacks the late swap option.

The two game with the highest projected run totals are Boston versus Toronto and Seattle versus Texas. If you are looking for a stack, it should probably come from one of these two games. But if you are wanting to pay up for one of the numerous studs on the mound today, you are going to need to find some values for your offensive picks. That is where I come in. I have searched through both sites, done my research, and found the players at each position that are poised to give you the highest return on investment for today's games. We aren't talking highest projected points, but rather the most bang for your buck, which is key to building an optimal DFS lineup.

That is the purpose of this article -- to provide you with the best value hitters available each day. Today I'll be bringing you nine value hitters for MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball on FanDuel and DraftKings for June 5th, 2016. Let's get rowdy.

DFS Hitters - Lineup Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings

Nick Hundley, COL (C)

FanDuel: $2,200/ DraftKings: $3,000

Hundley was activated from the disabled list Friday, which means the fantasy baseball world has its favorite cheap safety valve back behind the plate. In case you have forgotten, he hit .301 with 10 HR and five SB in 2015. The Rockies were supposed to be facing James Shields today, but after the news of the trade to Chicago, am I not sure who the Padres will be sending to the mound today. But I knowing the Padres rotation, I am not worried for Hundley's sake.

Jose Abreu, CWS (1B)

FanDuel: $3,200/ DraftKings: $3,000

Abreu has been a disappointment in 2016, hitting .251 with six HR through almost 250 PA, which explains the drop in his prices. But against Verlander in his short MLB career, he is 8-21 (.381) with two HR and a double. Also a good sign for today, Abreu has been much more effective versus RHP this season.

Rougned Odor, TEX (2B)

FanDuel: $2,700/ DraftKings: $3,800

I guess a seven game absence due to socking a dude in the jaw tends to lower a players price on DFS, who knew? Odor was consistently one of the top five most expensive second baseman each night prior to his suspension, but today is only $2,700 on FanDuel. Against Hisashi Iwakuma, Odor is 6-15 (.400) lifetime, with a HR and a double.

Travis Shaw, BOS (3B)

FanDuel: $3,000/ DraftKings: $3,500

Shaw was on my value hitter list yesterday as well, and finished 2-4 with a R, RBI, and a double. There is no way his prices can stay down this low all season, especially against RHP. He hits in the number one scoring offense in the league, and is slashing .312/.378/.529 with 23 XBH versus righties. Continue to take advantage of the salary disrespect today as he squares off with Marco Estrada, who has not pitched well on the road in 2016.

Jose Iglesias, DET (SS)

FanDuel: $2,400/ DraftKings: $2,600

Iglesias is on a nice little hot streak currently, accruing six hits (three doubles) in his last four games, including a 2-4 game yesterday against Chris Sale. He is 4-11 lifetime against Jose Quintana. He makes for a solid cheap fill in for a cash lineup anchored by Jose Fernandez or Jake Arrieta today.

Jeff Francoeur, ATL (OF)

FanDuel: $2,500/ DraftKings: $2,400

Frenchy is a southpaw smasher, and is hitting .339 with two HR against them in 2016. He even got a hit off Clayton Kershaw last night. He should slide right back into the cleanup position today, as the Braves draw another lefty in Scott Kazmir. Like Iglesias, Francoeur is a big money saver today, and usable in cash games.

Randal Grichuk, STL (OF)

FanDuel: $2,700/ DraftKings: $3,700

Now, for some value outfielders to use in GPP games. Grichuk had a much better month in May than he had in April, hitting an expected .253 with four HR compared to an ugly .189 BA with three HR. He is still whiffing far too much, and is really struggling on the road. So basically what I am saying is, Grichuk needs a match-up at Home against a pitcher who doesn't miss too many bats, and gives up a lot of solid contact. Well what do ya know, the Cards host Jake Peavy at Busch Stadium today. Peavy is only striking out 6.99 batters per nine innings, and is allowing the second highest Hard% (39.5) among starters. Peavy is also allowing a 41.1 FB%, which obviously leads to balls landing in the bleachers.

Joc Pederson, LAD (OF)

FanDuel: $2,900/ DraftKings: $3,200

The next value outfielder for GPP games is Joc Pederson. Different player, but same story as Grichuk, massive power upside with massive holes in his bat. We all know Pederson is only capable of hitting RHP, and would also benefit from a match-up against a pitcher who doesn't miss too many bats and gives up a lot of solid contact. Boom, the stars have aligned again. Matt Wisler is striking out only 6.32 per nine, owns the third highest Hard% (38.2%), and is allowing a 43.6 FB% that ranks near the bottom of the league (13th to be exact) of all starting pitchers.

Jackie Bradley, BOS (OF)

FanDuel: $3,200/ DraftKings: $3,800

So, not only does punching someone in the face lower your DFS salaries, but now I guess having babies does too. Any price under 4K for May's American League Player of the Month is highway robbery. JBJ has eight HR against RHP this season, and has already taken Estrada deep in just six career PA. At this price, especially on FanDuel, Bradley should be used in almost all cash and GPP lineups.
