Injury Update
In the early going of the 2023 season, deGrom has been extremely solid. He has compiled a 3.48 ERA and a low 0.87 WHIP while securing one win with 32 strikeouts over 20 2/3 innings. On Monday night, however, he was removed from his start in Kansas City after four no-hit innings due to soreness in his right wrist.
He told reporters after the game that he felt the issue early in the start and that it got worse as the game went on. The 34-year-old veteran felt the need to call the trainers and pull himself from the contest as a precautionary move, and attempt to not make the injury worse.
Here we are again, with the tall 6' 4" inch right-hander being looked at by the medical staff. This is something that is all but too familiar to him, baseball fans, and fantasy baseball managers.
When Will Jacob deGrom Pitch?
When it comes to another deGrom health situation, this time, it doesn't appear to be all bad news. On Tuesday the pitcher told reporters he fully expects to make his next scheduled start against Oakland later this week.
Death, taxes and Jacob DeGrom with an early season injury. 😐
