Is Garrett Wilson out for the season? When is Garrett Wilson coming back? The latest Garrett Wilson injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 12 of 2025.
Garrett Wilson was an early-round fantasy pick in 2025 based on the idea that he would be fed a huge target share every week from Justin Fields. We have seen that formula work for Fields before, but never with a receiver with Wilson’s talent level.
For a while, that plan paid off. Unfortunately, a series of knee injuries has prevented a talented, young receiver from having an all-time season in fantasy managers' eyes.

Is Garrett Wilson Out for the 2025 Season?
Garrett Wilson missed two games earlier in the season with a knee injury, but was able to return to the field in Week 10. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Wilson’s return to the field was short-lived.
The veteran receiver aggravated his knee injury in Week 10’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns. He was placed on injured reserve shortly after the game, guaranteeing that Wilson will miss at least four games. The first game was in Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns.

Head coach Aaron Glenn has said the team expects Wilson to return in 2025, but there will come a point where that decision may put the young receiver at unnecessary risk. The Jets are already 2-8 this season and have reportedly benched Justin Fields for Tyrod Taylor. There isn’t much to play for except draft position and pride at this point for the Jets.
Still, if the coaching staff and Wilson want the receiver on the field to end the season, there is a chance he can return starting in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Garrett Wilson 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
Fantasy managers who drafted Garrett Wilson this summer hoped they were getting a high-end fantasy wide receiver based on a lack of pass-catching competition and Justin Fields’ ability to overload his primary receiver with talent. Through seven weeks, that gamble seemed to pay off.
From Weeks 1 to 6, Wilson was the WR10 in fantasy, averaging 16.6 points per game. He averaged 9.3 targets, 6.0 receptions, and 65.8 receiving yards per game with four touchdowns despite Justin Fields’ struggles under center.

There is almost no reason to bring Garrett Wilson back this season, but if he does return, he could be getting more accurate passes from Taylor. That, combined with the lack of target competition with the Jets, could give Wilson big upside in the fantasy playoffs.
He is worth stashing where possible, but can be dropped for managers who need immediate fantasy scoring due to the chance that his season could be over.
