The New York Giants have arguably the worst wide receiver core in the NFL. New York has struggled at the wide receiver position since trading away Odell Beckham Jr. in 2019.

Last year Saquon Barkley led the team in receptions (57) and targets (76). Furthermore, the superstar running back finished fourth in receiving yards (338). After having an awful wide receiver core last year, the Giants did little to improve the unit this offseason.

New York signed a couple of veterans and used a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on Jalin Hyatt. Instead, the Giants traded for Darren Waller. While he has struggled with injuries over the past two years, the veteran is one of the top tight ends when healthy.

What Did The Giants Wide Receivers Accomplish Last Year?

Darius Slayton has spent his entire four-year career with the Giants. Last season he had 46 receptions on 71 targets for 724 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Furthermore, the veteran receiver led the team in receiving yards.

The Giants had high hopes for Wan’Dale Robinson last season. He had a solid rookie year, totaling 23 receptions on 31 targets for 227 receiving yards and one touchdown in six games. Unfortunately, the Kentucky star had his rookie season cut short by a torn ACL.

Last year Parris Campbell played for the Indianapolis Colts. The former Ohio State star struggled with injuries early in his career, playing only 30.6% of the games over the first three years in the NFL. However, he had 63 receptions on 91 targets for 623 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2022, all career highs.

After spending the first seven weeks last year with the Buffalo Bills, Isaiah Hodgins joined the Giants. The second-year receiver had 33 receptions on 42 targets for 351 receiving yards and four touchdowns with New York. Furthermore, Hodgins led New York in receiving touchdowns despite only playing eight games with the team.

Who Will Be The Top Wide Receiver For The Giants In 2023?

Fantasy players should avoid the Giants’ wide receiver core. Waller will lead the team in targets if he is healthy all year. However, Campbell has been getting headlines this offseason. The Giants have moved the former Ohio State star all over the field, including at running back.

While fantasy players should avoid drafting a New York wide receiver this season, Campbell could be a popular Week 1 wavier wire addition.
