Eric Gordon is a fantasy basketball draft sleeper for the 2020-2021 NBA season. Target him as a value pick in this season's fantasy drafts.
BALLER MOVE: Target Around 128 Overall
CURRENT ADP: 142
ANALYSIS: Gordon’s fantasy value hinges on the status of stars John Wall and James Harden. Gordon has minimal when both are on the floor, but due to Harden's pending trade request and Wall's injury history, Gordon could have a ton of value as we get deep into the season.
Last year, Gordon’s usage was a respectable 22.5%. That jumped to a massive 36.4% when Westbrook and Harden were both off the floor. If both Wall and Harden are healthy and in Houston all year, expect that 22% usage rate to stick, however with Wall playing just 73 games over the past three years, that seems unlikely. Gordon offers very little in terms of peripheral stats, but he remains elite in scoring, three-pointers made and free-throw shooting regardless of the status of Houston's other stars.
While Gordon wasn't incredible from deep last year (31.7 percent from three), he was one of only 14 players to dare shooting more than eight treys per game. That volume is insane, and even with Houston changing its staff odds are he remains throwing bomb for another season. We should also expect some possitive regression from Gordon: he shot almost six percentage-points (in all three cats--field goals, three-pointers, and free-throws) below his career averages, which shouldn't stay at those low levels for long.
