DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (5/8/18): NBA DFS Lineups

Tonight really isn't the greatest slate. Realistically, the entire second round of playoffs hasn't been that good in terms of DFS. It's been decent but the blowouts mess with decision making. With only two games that haven't offered up the most competition, choosing whether it will be a close game or a toss-up, now that the gentleman's sweep is in place for both teams, it only makes sense to ride the Warriors an Rockets as teams to stack.

Your three most expensive players tonight will be Anthony Davis, James Harden and Kevin Durant in that order. As far as production is concerned, I might flip Durant and Harden for this close-out game, assuming Durant steps on the neck while Harden goes through his normal high-pressure situation struggles. I wouldn't fade Davis tonight because it's hard to see the Pelicans going through anyone else for offense. There aren't that many top-tier options tonight so make sure you do what you can to roster both Davis and Durant, and i'll give you the cheap option to help you get there.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/8/18. These DFS lineup picks can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on DraftKings.

DraftKings DFS Guards

Klay Thompson - SG, vs. NOP ($5,900)

At first I was going to give this spot to Steph Curry or the sake of the consideration but Klay Thompson is WAY more deserving given his price. The best thing about Thompson as a DFS option is his ability to literally go off for no reason other than he was hitting. After his 37-point quarter and 60-point, three-quarter game, no DFS player has ever happily faded Thompson pre-game. This won't be one of those godly games, but to think it's not possible says more about you than it does about Thompson.

Ian Clark - SG/SF, @ GSW ($3,500)

While the Pelicans reach deeper and deeper into their bag of tricks, almost desperate for offense, you the DFS needs to look no further. This is the play of the night. If his price was cheaper I might have kept this one to myself but it's too good of a pick not to elaborate on. Ian Clark picked up momentum last game and that will translate to production Tuesday night. Although his decision making was a bit skeptical, he was still making the shots he was taking and that's what matters. Since this game will revolve around the key three for the N-O-P, (Jrue Holiday, Rajon Rondo and Anthony Davis) look for Clark and Nikola Mirotic to be raining it down from the wings.

DraftKings DFS Forwards

P.J. Tucker - SF/PF, vs. UTA ($3,900)

Normally I would suggest Trevor Ariza but P.J. Tucker is playing better on both sides of the ball. He's contributing with more fluidity and making up for whatever lack of scoring with rebounds. Ariza might have upside being a 3&D player, but Tucker has shown diligence when it comes to hustle stats. His rebounding combined with his willingness to shoot makes Tucker one of the better low-end picks of the night. Even if the Jazz do flounder and the game is blown out of proportion, Tucker will benefit from the extra minutes.

Jae Crowder - SF/PF, @ HOU ($5,100)

Another tough pick but Jae Crowder seems like he's back to his top-notch form that he had with the Celtics. Ok, maybe top-notch was a little dramatic but when he's hitting threes it's a massive plus for DFS players and the Jazz. His minutes are not jeopardized whatsoever and whether its off the bench or starting, Crowder will produce. Assuming he doesn't go ice cold from the field, which he has done before, he's lined up for a rebound game after struggling from the field the last two games. Even in those contests, Crowder's shooting wasn't the make or break point in the game. Going 1-for-11 is never good, but it gives him something to rebound on and he isn't just a point dependent option. Crowder's price is fairly high, but he does have upside given the amount of shots the Jazz are letting him take. Regardless, he consistently works to find open spots and it will benefit whoever plays him tonight.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Rudy Gobert - C, @ HOU ($6,400)

It's pretty obvious that Rudy Gobert needs a point guard or some type of off-ball facilitation to get him going. Defensively he is untouched but his struggles on offense make sense for the lower price. He gets the minutes and has faied to double-double this playoffs only three times the entire postseason. Granted, his postseason run might be coming to a close but that number shouldn't rise above three before the Jazz are done. The Jazz shouldn't come back from the deficit, but Rudy Gobert could absolutely smash his projected with a good game tonight. If you can find a way to roster Anthony Davis and Rudy Gobert, that should be at least 80 FPTS right there.
