Daily Fantasy Soccer: DraftKings MLS DFS Lineup Picks, Sleepers and Advice for 9/5

The MLS season is drawing closer to its end, but that doesn't mean the chance to win money in DraftKings MLS daily fantasy contests has disappeared! The competition is heating up, and so are your chances to win money. Sit back and take it all in as I provide to you my value picks and sleepers for Saturday, 9/5.

Editor's Note: If you haven't played Daily Fantasy MLS / Soccer games, check out our partner DraftKings. They're hosting a one-day Fantasy MLS league this weekend.

It's FREE to enter with $1,000 up for grabs!  Sign up now and we'll give you free access to RotoBaller's Ultimate NFL Full Season Pass + DFS Lineup Picks (a $99.99 value). You'll also receive a 100% bonus on your first DraftKings deposit.

DFS Soccer Goalkeepers for DraftKings MLS

Andre Blake, Philadelphia Union ($4,200

Andre Blake has recently come on strong for the Philadelphia Union, averaging 14.0 FPPG in his last two games. He has averaged stellar numbers (albeit in only two games) of 0.50 clean sheets and goals conceded per 90 minutes to go along with 3.50 saves/90 minutes. Additionally, he has made an incredible seven saves per goal. His dollar/fantasy point value is an astounding $300.00, and coupled with the fact he is playing the San Jose Earthquakes and their relatively meager offense, he should provide tremendous value at the goalkeeper position.

DFS Soccer Defenders for DraftKings MLS

Chris Tierney, New England Revolution ($6,400)

Chris Tierney is the most expensive defender, and in spite of his high price, he still generates tremendous value. Tierney attempts 0.97 shots and completes 1.69 key passes per 90 minutes, both stellar numbers for a defender. He has been averaging 11.3 FPPG as of late and provides $566.37 per fantasy point. Tierney’s status as a consistent fantasy producer as well as his high value warrants him a spot near the top of this list.

Clarence Goodson, San Jose Earthquakes ($4,900)

Clarence Goodson has recently jumped onto the fantasy radar, and for good reason. He has produced very well as of late, averaging 9.9 FPPG in his last few contests. Additionally, he provides value with his 0.20 key passes and 0.10 assists per 90 minutes as well as his 0.61 shots and 60% accuracy, all above-average numbers for a defender. He provides a dollar/fantasy point value of $494.94, which puts him in the upper echelon of defenders.

DFS Soccer Midfielders for DraftKings MLS

Marco Delgado, Toronto FC ($5,200)

Of all the high-value options presented at midfielder, Marco Delgado presents the highest risk. He has an extremely low price tag which helps in part to mitigate his lack production when compared to his fellow high value counterparts (5.8 FPPG). He shoots 1.41 shots per 90 minutes with 51% accuracy, and averages a lowly 1.21 key passes per 90 minutes. He provides a value of $896.55 per fantasy point, which may seem high, but when considers his upside, the risk is worth taking.. If you are short on cap space but want to pack in a high value player, then Marco Delgado is your man. Otherwise, proceed with caution—there is a reason why he is priced so low.

Shea Salinas, San Jose Earthquakes ($6,200)

Shea Salinas is an intriguing option at the midfielder position. He has not been utilized much this season, but as of late he has been doing well in fantasy. He averages 10.9 FPPG, and with a relatively low price tag of $6,200, and he seems like a steal. He averages 1.23 total shots on 42% accuracy per 90 minutes to go along with 1.41 key passes per 90 minutes. He provides a dollar/fantasy point value of $568.80, and he is worth a chance at the defender position.

DFS Soccer Forwards for DraftKings MLS

Obafemi Martins, Seattle Sounders, ($10,200)

Obafemi Martins has consistently been one of the top fantasy producers all year, and he remains an extremely high value option at the forward position. He shoots 2.10 shots per 90 minutes with a stellar 65% accuracy rate to go along with 2.45 fouls drawn per 90 minutes. His assist and cross numbers are average at 0.17 and 0.70 per 90 minutes, respectively, but at 16.7 FPPG, he still produces enough to get the job done. He provides a value of $610.78 per fantasy point, which for a forward in Draftkings is an exceptionally high value.

Clint Dempsey - Seattle Sounders ($10,000)

For forwards in DraftKings contests, stacking, which is a strategy where one selects multiple players from the same team in hopes that if one player generates fantasy points, other players on his team will also rack up points as well as a direct result of the former’s play, can be very effective. Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins directly complement each other, so if you can somehow manage to snag both on your roster, kudos to you. If you can't snag both, one of them is still just fine. Dempsey scores 0.58 goals/90 minutes and takes 2.91 shots/90 minutes with 49% accuracy, which is outstanding for a forward. He creates 1.64 chances/90 minutes and draws 1.99 fouls/90 minutes, which are stellar statistics. With 10.0 FPPG, he provides a dollar/fantasy point value of $1,000, but his value is higher considering his season-long production.

DFS Flex Position for DraftKings MLS

C.J. Sapong, Philadelphia Union ($7,400)

I've liked C.J. Sapong at the Flex before, and I continue to like him now. Sapong's value has been steadily rising over the past few games, and he is surprisingly inexpensive for the output he produces. He averages 6.1 FPPG and provides a seemingly meager value of $1,213.11 per fantasy point, but that is only over his last two games. He attempts 2.56 shots per 90 minutes with 51% accuracy and draws an outstanding 2.49 penalties per 90 minutes. If you are looking for a safe, relatively inexpensive high value option at the Flex position, then look no further than CJ Sapong. He is your man.
