Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks for Wednesday 8/19

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/19/20. Dave Swan identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

We are about a quarter of the way through the season already, wow! This sprint season has thrown a myriad of calamities at all of us. The best way to combat the chaos is to focus on the streamable pitchers and hitters.

When choosing my daily hitter streamers, I examine their platoon splits, lineup position, and pitching matchup. With pitchers, I account for the opposing lineup, team ballpark, and recent performance to help make my decision.

Each of my streamers will be rostered in between 0-40% of Yahoo leagues, with a mixed focus on both shallow and deeper formats. Today, I will be providing a streamer for each position, including two starting pitchers. Let’s take a look at the Wednesday slate and dig out some streamer gems to help you start the week with a bang!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 8/19 - Infielders

Austin Romine (C, DET, RHB) - 7% Rostered

Matchup: @ CWS RHP Dane Dunning

Romine has been a bright spot for the Detroit Tigers so far in 2020. He has been very productive with two home runs, ten RBI, and seven runs with a .809 OPS. Romine is riding a five-game hitting streak that's boosted his batting average to .315. He squares off against Dane Dunning, who is making his MLB debut. Dunning has faired well in the minor leagues but never pitched above the Double-A level.

Mitch Moreland (1B, BOS, LHB) - 27% Rostered

Matchup: vs. PHI RHP Jake Arrieta

When the Red Sox face off against right-handed pitching, they deploy Mitch Moreland. Against RHP, Moreland has a 1.251 OPS and is firmly planted in the middle of the lineup. He has a terrific start to the season with six home runs and 14 RBI. Moreland is a spray hitter that can take advantage of the short right and left field in Fenway Park.

Robinson Cano (2B, NYM, LHB) - 35% Rostered

Matchup: @ MIA RHP Pablo Lopez

Cano looks healthy now and is swinging a scorching bat. He is batting .393 with four HRs, 13 RBI, and ten runs in 16 games played. The Statcast metrics suggest this isn't a mirage, as he is in the 90th percentile or better in many of the categories you want: Exit Velocity, Hard Hit%, and xwOBA. If your team is short on power, Cano is a terrific pickup for you.

Alec Bohm (3B, PHI, RHB) - 21% Rostered

Matchup: @ BOS LHP Kyle Hart

Alec Bohm was a highly-touted prospect in the Phillies organization that is getting his moment to shine at third base. In the small five-game sample since being called up, Bohm is hitting .353 with two RBI and three runs. He bats in the back third of the batting order, but should be productive against a southpaw like Kyle Hart.

Nick Ahmed (SS, ARI, RHB) - 14% Rostered

Matchup: @ OAK LHP Jesus Luzardo

Nick Ahmed is another streaming option that is currently on fire at the plate. He has collected eight hits in the last five games, and four of them were extra-base hits. This offensive outburst has raised his slash line to .275/.341/.438 with 15 runs scored and 16 RBI in only 24 games played. Ahmed is an excellent streamer for someone that unfortunately lost Bo Bichette last week.

Hitter Streamers for 8/19 - Outfielders

Randal Grichuk (OF, TOR, RHB) 17% Rostered

Matchup: @ BAL LHP Tommy Milone

Grichuk is white hot at the plate. He is on a seven-game hitting streak with a home run in the previous three. Grichuk has dropped his strikeout rate to 21.3% and is walking more than ever (9.8%). He has managed to keep these plate discipline gains and maintain his high barrel% (11.9) and hard-hit% (40.5). This production has planted him in the two-hole with plenty of opportunities to contribute in many categories.

Aaron Hicks (OF, NYY, SHB) - 11% Rostered

Matchup: vs. TAM RHP Tyler Glasnow

The season-long stats don't tell the whole story for Hicks. Since the departure of Stanton and Judge due to injury, Hicks has been pushed up in the lineup. He is now batting leadoff or third in the very potent Yankees lineup, and production has skyrocketed. In his last six games, Hicks has five extra-base hits and seven runs scored. He squares off against Tyler Glasnow, who is allowing tons of hard contact and is currently struggling to get outs.

Phil Gosselin (OF, WAS, RHB) - 2% Rostered

Matchup: @ BOS LHP Kyle Hart

Gosselin has been demolishing left-hand pitchers in 2020. He has a .429 batting average with three home runs, eight runs, and eight RBI in only 11 games played. Nearly all of his production this year has come by way of facing southpaws. Heavy platoon split hitters are great streaming options, and Gosselin will be in today's lineup.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/19

Pablo Lopez (RHP, MIA) vs. NYM - 32% Rostered

It is a crime that Pablo Lopez is so under-owned. Lopez has a 22.4 K-BB% and 2.25 ERA in 16 innings pitched. His changeup has yielded 11 strikeouts on that pitch alone, while baffling hitters with a 47.7 Whiff%. In his previous start, Lopez finally cracked the six innings pitched mark while picking up a quality start. The Mets have quality left-handed bats, but Lopez's changeup should quiet them.

Jake Arrieta (RHP, PHI) @ BOS - 26% Rostered

Jake Arrieta may be showing some signs of slowing down due to age, but he is still capable of tossing a gem. His 4.04 ERA and 1.27 WHIP is formidable in today's pitching landscape. Arrieta has found the command of previous years as he currently boasts a 3.3% walk rate. His opponent is the Boston Red Sox, a team that has been relatively average against right-hand pitching. As a team, they have a 101 wRC+ with a 27.1% strikeout rate.
