Counter Strike: Global Offensive DFS Picks (5/8/20) - DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy

Dan Palyo's DraftKings, FanDuel DFS lineup picks for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on 5/8/20. He analyzes CS:GO slates and top targets for ESports DFS contests.

Welcome back, RotoBallers, to another edition of my Counter Strike: Global Offensive DFS picks. Today I am filling in for the CSGO Goat himself, Jorge Pucks, and giving you my favorite plays and stragegy for today's CSGO slate. Like usual, I will do my best to give you the stats and info you need to build the best lineups possible for your GPP and cash game CSGO contests on DraftKings and FanDuel.

We have a five-game slate that is a part of the ESL One: Road to Rio qualifier. This has been an awesome tournament so far and has provided us with a steady stream of solid 4-6 match slates. Today's main slate is a combination of morning and mid-day matches, which is a departure from the usual 12:30 PM lineup lock we have been used to so far in this tournament. There are a bunch of other slates at various times throughout the day as we are seeing more CSGO contests become available but for now, I am going to focus on the main slate for each of the two main sites.

Today I'll be bringing you my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel for Friday, May 8th, 2020 at 9:00 AM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @ThunderDanDFS as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

  • Hard Legion vs. Virtus Pro
  • Syman vs. Natus Vincere (-2500)
  • GODSENT vs. mousesports (-375)
  • Copenhangen vs. FaZe (-600)

CS:GO DFS Strategy

I have had a lot of success in CS:GO this month thanks to the great content from our lead analyst Jorge Pucks and the excellent tools available in our premium product. One of my favorite strategies for these bigger slates is to eat the chalk in cash games and fade as much of it as I can in GPPs.

It sounds like a pretty universal DFS strategy, right? However, I continue to see players from highly favored teams at really high ownerships even in GPPs and their bust rate is substantial. Think of Esports a lot more like baseball or hockey - high variance sports - and less like NBA, where players have floors and more predictable outcomes.

Stacking is important here just like in a lot of other DFS sports. In cash games, it's less optimal usually, but in GPPs I am finding it crucial to have at least two players paired together from my favorite teams.

My favorite stack combinations for slates this size (4-6 matches) are 3-2-1, 2-2-2, and 2-2-1-1.  Yes, 3-3 stacks on bigger slates are risky but still viable as well.

CS:GO DFS Captain Considerations

S1mple is head and shoulders above the rest of the field today with a 1.31 K/D ratio over the last three months. He's been even better recently with a 1.43 K/D ratio at this event and I expect him to carry NV is another win here against an inferior team.

He and his squad are the biggest favorites on the slate and he's well worth paying up for in your captain slot in both cash games and GPPs. I usually like one-offing him or stacking him maybe only one other teammate as no one else on his squad has great K/D numbers.

Niko has not been the best player on his team lately, but he still carries the best K/D ratio on his team over the larger sample size of three months at 1.2. He's a full 1,800 dollars cheaper than S1mple at the captain slot and even cheaper than degster, too. I'll definitely have some shares of him in my captain spot as he's going to break out of his mini-slump sooner or later.

Frozen leads a solid Mousesports squad in K/D ratio at this event with 1.18 and is a 1.12 K/D player over his last three months. I definitely don't mind buying low on Ropz either, as his DraftKings price has dropped down to 8,200 and he could be lower owned for 200 less than his teammate. I'll have some exposure to both, but right now Frozen is in better form.

Other captain plays: broky, coldzera, ropz

CS:GO DFS Value Plays

Olofmeister continues to be a great value on DraftKings (6,000). He's a cheap piece of this FaZe attack and has gone for 50 or more DraftKings points in four straight. He's sitting at 1.08 K/D ratio at this event and I'll continue to roll him out there in FaZe stacks and as a valuable piece for cash games.

BoombI4 is my second favorite play on Natus Vincere and holds a solid 1.03 K/D ratio over the last three months. He's a solid value on DraftKings at 6,400 and very cheap on FanDuel at 9,300. He should benefit from a 2-0 sweep with some bonus points even if he doesn't pile up a ton of kills.

Other value plays: qikert (FD), woxic

Top CS:GO DFS Stacks

FaZe has been in great form recently as they are winners of five straight matches. They face a very respectable Copenhagen squad today that could pull a big game out of them and keep this match competitive. I love the idea of some three-man FaZe stacks on Draftkings, while you may only be able to afford two of them on FanDuel where they are priced up.

Niko, broky, coldzera, olofmeister and rain are all in play here with broky and coldzera being the hottest players from this team lately. Definitely don't get cute and fade FaZe (see what I did there?).

Mousesports had a rough stretch in which they dropped matches 2-0 to both Movistar Riders and North, but have bounced back and won two of their last three including a quality win against G2 their last time out.

They are solid favorites today against a GODSENT squad that has dropped four of their last five. I mentioned frozen and ropz already, but don't forget about woxic, who has been a solid 1.10 K/D player at this tournament and is priced very affordably on both sites.

Virtus Pro are a sneaky stack today, and more so on FanDuel where they are priced very affordably. They're a significantly better team than Hard Legion, who has lost four of it's last five matches and have managed to win only one game in those four losses.

There's a good chance for a sweep here and both Jame (10,200) and Buster (9,900) are too cheap on FanDuel for their upside. Jame has been a 1.33 K/D ratio player at this event, while Buster is sitting at 1.29 K/D. Those two are the hottest players for VP, but Qikert (9,400) is a solid 1.12 K/D ratio player over the last three months, too.

Other stacks/teams: Natus Vincere
