Caleb Williams vs. Tua Tagovailoa - Who Should I Draft in 2024 Fantasy Football?

Tua Tagovailoa - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should fantasy football players draft Tua Tagovailoa or Caleb Williams during their 2024 fantasy drafts? Justin Pottinger examines the case for both quarterbacks.

Several factors should be considered when deciding whether to draft Caleb Williams or Tua Tagovailoa in 2024 fantasy football, including their 2023 performance, team dynamics, offensive lines, and overall health.

Williams enters the NFL with high expectations following an exceptional college career, but rookie quarterbacks often face a steep learning curve. Tagovailoa had a solid 2023 season with the Miami Dolphins, but will he keep it up and remain healthy this season?

Which quarterback should fantasy players draft in 2024? Let’s dive into it.

Tua Tagovailoa 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Tagovailoa had a solid 2023 season, continuing to develop as the Miami Dolphins' starting quarterback. The quarterback totaled an impressive 4,624 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He showcased his accuracy and ability to manage the game effectively, making significant strides in his fourth season.

The Dolphins have built a competitive team around Tagovailoa, with a strong receiving corps and a capable offensive line. Having star wideouts Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle definitely helped, and they were huge contributors to his incredibly high-yardage numbers. The stability and continuity in Miami’s offensive scheme could provide Tagovailoa with a slight edge in fantasy reliability.

Tagovailoa has the advantage of NFL experience and a more stable team environment. His familiarity with the Dolphins system and the improvements in the supporting cast make him a safe pick for redraft leagues.

Caleb Williams 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Caleb Williams, a standout college quarterback, is entering the NFL with high expectations after being selected first overall by the Chicago Bears. His exceptional college career, marked by impressive passing and rushing stats, makes him an intriguing option.

However, rookie quarterbacks often face a steep learning curve and that should be expected in the early part of the season for Williams. Adapting to the NFL and his fantasy value could vary based on the talent surrounding him and the coaching staff’s ability to integrate him into their system. The good news for Williams is that he is entering a near-perfect situation with incredible offensive weapons such as DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, rookie Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, and D'Andre Swift in the backfield.

Williams offers a high ceiling due to his talent and potential as a dual-threat quarterback. If he adapts quickly to the NFL and fits in with his favorable situation, he could be a game-changer and a top-10 quarterback in his first season.

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?

If you are looking for a reliable, proven option with a high floor, Tua Tagovailoa is the better choice. However, if you’re willing to take a risk on a high-upside rookie who could potentially become a fantasy star, Caleb Williams might be worth the gamble.

Ultimately, monitoring preseason developments, team dynamics, and health updates will provide more clarity. According to RotoBaller's 2024 Fantasy Football Rankings, Tagovailoa is ranked just one spot ahead of Williams, being the 11th overall quarterback. Tagovailoa may not be the more exciting pick, but he seems to be the safer bet due to his experience and stability.

However, Williams provides a much higher ceiling due to the potential, but a lower floor due to the inexperience and the uncertainty surrounding how he will adapt. Taking the gamble on Williams will be worth it, especially in leagues where you can afford to take a high-risk, high-reward player.
