ANALYSIS: When a pitcher records a double-digit strikeout game, fantasy managers tend to sit up and take notice. That's been the case with Cal Quantrill, as his dominant win over the Tigers on Friday led to a significant spike in his rostered rate. Despite that, he remains available in two-thirds of Yahoo leagues at the moment.
The weekend gem was just the latest in a strong run of play for the former first-round pick. He's earned quality starts in five of his last six turns, and the only time he still tossed five innings of one-run ball and got the win. The 26-year-old now boasts a 3.14 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, albeit with a modest 71 strikeouts in 91 frames even after Friday's whiff-fest. Cleveland usually gets the most out of their arms, and it seems like Quantrill has taken a step forward.
