Bisi Johnson is a potential fantasy football wide receiver draft sleeper for the 2020 NFL season. Target him is a mid-to-late round WR value pick in drafts.
BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~170 Overall
CURRENT ADP: 180+ (Undrafted)
ANALYSIS: Do the Vikings have the most booming passing offense in the NFL? Nope. Is Bisi Johnson a WR3 in this attack? Sure thing. See, I know Minny's passing game is not quite as valuable as that of Kansas City and that being the third receiver on the Chiefs offense is much more appealing than being the one for the Vikings, but it's something at least. The Vikings spent a first-round pick on Justin Jefferson but the depth chart at receiver is pretty sketchy after him and Adam Thielen.
As of this writing, the plan seems to be for Thielen and Jefferson to play the X and Z, with Johnson coming in on 11 formations and the other two taking turns in the slot. Realistically, Jefferson would serve best as a full-time slot receiver and could be moved there if he can't handle NFL cornerbacks. That leaves Johnson with even more snaps, potentially. Only slot receiver Tajae Sharpe could threaten Johnson's target share, but he was signed to a paltry one-year, one-million-dollar deal and will have to ingratiate himself to a new QB whereas Johnson is the incumbent. Unless fifth-rounder K.J. Osborn or UDFA Quartney Davis emerges in the preseason, Johnson is the sleeper to watch here.
It's true that the Vikings employed three or more wide receivers on just 25 percent of their offensive snaps last year, the lowest in the NFL. Much of Johnson's value is tied to Jefferson's performance. If he can effectively replace Stefon Diggs, then there just may not be enough targets to go around to the rest of the receivers for anyone to be productive consistently. If Jefferson struggles, then Johnson finds himself with a starting job and a great opportunity to rack up points for the price of... almost nothing!
