Russell Gage is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for wide receivers. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 13 of the 2021 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 19% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The last time we saw Calvin Ridley (get well soon!) doing it on a football field we hadn't even reached November as that happened in Week 7. From the following game on, Gage has always logged a 65-percent+ snap share in the five games played in that span up to the one against Jacksonville last Sunday. The results have been a little bit shaky, yes, but it's now been back-to-back outings from Gage hitting double-digit PPR points and getting more than a fair share of looks from QB Matt Ryan.
Just in case you have not paid attention, these are Gage's fantasy tallies from W7 (included; Ridley played) to W12: 16.7, zero, 13.4, zero, 9.9, 18.2. Those zeroes are too real, folks. But so are the three 13.4+ games he's accrued in this six-game span. Gage, for some reason, saw all of no targets at all in Week 8 (even though he appeared on 68% of the Falcons snaps) and only three in W10. Thank God, Matt Ryan seems to have come back to his senses and he's targeted Gage 8 and 7 times in the past two weeks, in which Gage has been able to finish WR35 and (pending MNF) WR14 of late.
The truth is, as long as the volume is there for Gage he should put up nice numbers. Looking at games in which he has been targeted 7+ times (four of eight this season), Gage has averaged 6 receptions, 51 receiving yards, and scored 1 total TD. Not the highest production in terms of scoring, but a good one when it comes to receptions/yards, even more in PPR formats. It makes no sense for Ryan to skip Gage in his reads given the status of the Falcons receiving corps outside of TE Kyle Pitts. The volume of targets should stay up ROS, and that is all Gage needs to produce. Make sure you land him if you're playing in any sort of deeper format, and start him at your WR3/Flex spot without much hesitation weekly.
