Nationals @ Braves

More or Less Contest

Stephen Strasburg more 6.5 strikeouts and Max Fried more than 5.5 strikeouts

While Strasburg has not reached this total in his previous three starts, he did reach eight strikeouts the last time he faced the Braves on April 7th. Currently, Atlanta is posting the fifth-worst K rate against right-handers over the previous 10 days with a rate of 27.8%. Just last night, Joe Ross managed to mow these Braves down seven times across five innings pitched, so it seems more than reasonable that Stephen Strasburg should be able to do the same.

The Nationals always seem to hit left-handed pitching well and that is currently the case as they are posting a K rate of just 21.7% over the previous 10 days, but Fried has been very solid in 2021 and has managed to strike out nine Nationals across seven innings pitched. In his last start against Washington on May 5th, Fried struck out six in his five innings pitched. He has also allowed exactly one earned run in each of his last four starts and seems to be on a roll right now. It would be tough to bet against him in this one.

Red Sox @ Astros

More or Less Contest

Garrett Richards less than 5.5 strikeouts and Luis Garcia more than 5.5 strikeouts

This is a tough matchup for Richards as the Astros just aren't striking out. Over the previous 10 days, Houston is only striking out at a rate of 15% vs. right-handers, which is the best mark in baseball. They are also walking at a solid clip of 12.4% and posting a wRC+ mark of 105. Richards has also failed to reach over this total in each of his last four starts and all but two starts on the season.

Garcia will be facing a Red Sox team that ranks the worst in baseball in terms of K rate vs. right-handers over the previous 10 days as they are posting a rate of 32.3%. Jose Urquidy just mowed them down nine times and Garcia's stuff has looked even better. He has gone over this total in each of his last two starts and has done it in five of his last six starts as well.
