49ers tight end (TE) Jordan Reed is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 16 of the 2020 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 21% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: In Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed caught his fourth touchdown of the year and his second in his past three games.
Reed has been utilized almost exclusively as a short-yardage option this year. He's averaging just 8.9 yards per reception on the year. Because of the nature of his role, he's had some extremely low yardage outputs lately. This past week, he managed just 18 yards with his two catches. He has now failed to reach 20 receiving yards in three of his past four games.
On the bright side, Reed very clearly has a regular role in the 49ers offense. He's seen at least four targets in each of his past five games. It appears as if there's a chance that George Kittle (foot) returns before the end of the season and if he does, Reed isn't deserving of a roster spot. But if Kittle remains out, Reed is worth consideration as a low-end tight end starter in leagues of 14 or more teams in Week 16. He's more trust-worthy in PPR than in non-PPR.
