Cleveland Browns running back (RB) D'Ernest Johnson is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 5 of the 2020 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Cleveland Browns running back D'Ernest Johnson saw the heaviest workload of his young career in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys. After the team lost Nick Chubb (knee) to a knee injury in the game, Johnson was featured heavily, finishing the game with 13 carries for 95 yards, averaging 7.3 yards per carry.
Chubb was placed on Injured Reserve on Monday and is projected to miss about six weeks. The Browns have been leaning heavily on their running backs since Week 1 as both Chubb and Kareem Hunt have been carrying fantasy owners. Hunt has five touchdowns and over 300 yards from scrimmage through four games while playing second fiddle to Chubb.
It's clear the Browns will feature a run-heavy game plan based around multiple running backs all year. The fact the Browns didn't lean on Hunt exclusively after Chubb's injury was direct evidence of this. In fact, Johnson actually out-carried Hunt in Week 4 as Hunt rushed the ball 11 times for 71 yards.
Johnson is a must-add in all leagues of 12 teams or deeper and he's worth consideration in more shallow leagues as well. He will be a viable starting option as a low-end RB2 or flex as soon as Week 5 when the Browns take on the Indianapolis Colts.
