NBA DFS Prop Picks for 1/1/20 - Monkey Knife Fight

Jake Finnen provides his NBA DFS prop picks for January 1st, 2020 on Monkey Knife Fight. Make your DFS picks with his daily fantasy basketball advice.

With just a four-game slate this Wednesday, we are pretty limited with our options. Looking over some of the props for tonight and you'll see a ton of action for the Phoenix Suns - Los Angeles Lakers contest and rightfully so. Even with the Lakers defense, both teams score a ton of points and don't have a problem letting the opposing team score over 100. All in all, the upside works in favor of both teams and if you are playing heavily tonight, chances are you will be deeply invested in the Suns - Lakers game, and there's nothing wrong with that.

If you have more questions about these prop bets or other NBA DFS situations, find me in the NBA Chat Room or @HalfCourtJester on Twitter. There are quite a few lingering injury tags out there so make sure you stay updated.

Editor's Note: Here's a really nice special offer for all RotoBaller readers from our Monkey Knife Fight friends: New AND Existing Player Bonus - All players receive a 100% matched signup or reload bonus up to $50 with code 'RBNBA19'  Once you sign up and deposit, use our NBA prop picks below to get off on a winning foot!

Nikola Vucevic (ORL) OVER 20.5 Points

The only problem with this bet is that the Wizards have a really good chance of getting blown out and Nikola Vucevic could see less minutes because of it. Everything else about this matchup gives the Magic and Vucevic the advantage, so don't be like me and overthink it to the point where you just fade this bet entirely. There are too many factors working in favor of the Magic frontcourt and there was an Isaiah Thomas bet coupled along with this one that needed him to score above 15.5 points, that one seems pretty safe given the projected trajectory of this game. The Magic are rolling and the Wizards are...Wizarding? I don't know, but they aren't playing well.

Ricky Rubio (PHO) OVER 8.5 Assists

You'll have to go select the second More Or Less option, and even though the Lakers defense has been one of the best in the league, Ricky Rubio continues to show out even when it's unexpected. Some of the top tier defenses have been able to limit him slightly, but even then, there have been plenty of games where Rubio should have amassed way more than 10 assists, yet the Suns failed to convert a few shot attempts and he fell beneath his projected assists total. Tonight, especially if someone like Anthony Davis misses some time, Rubio should be on track for his normal double-double output. The Lakers are good, but Rubio has been solid this year and as long as the Suns can hit a few shots, he should have no problem hitting the over.

Hassan Whiteside (POR) Under 14.5 Rebounds

Truthfully, I really wanted to stay away from this game. I didn't like the scoring projections given for some of the players, not to mention the Knicks are among the top-10 in rebounds this season and Hassan Whiteside has that capability of going off against anyone. Normally, I'd suck it up and just roll with Whiteside here, but against the Knicks and their sixty power forwards it's much harder to see him having one of those high-rebound nights. Sadly, anything is possible with Whiteside, so while I'm conflicted, the Knicks can rebound with some of the best teams and the stats support the under, so here we are.
