FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (10/8/16): MLB DFS Advice

Welcome to the first Saturday of the 2016 Major League Baseball playoffs. After a full four game slate on Friday we are left with a small two game slate today. After beating the Nationals in game one the Dodgers will look to take command while the Cubs will host the Giants trying to do the same after a 1-0 win last night.

On these smaller slates it is best to limit your bankroll as there will be a ton of overlapping lineups. If are looking to differentiate yourself in tournaments look to leave some salary on table and stack some bats at the bottom of the lineups.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 10/8/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel.

Editor's Note: If you like FanDuel, be sure to also check out FantasyAces. New users that sign up on Fantasy Aces and make a $20 deposit will receive RotoBaller's full season NFL Premium Pass for free (including Premium DFS & MLB Premium), normally a $59.99 value. Expert DFS research, sample lineups, matchup ratings and lots more!

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Chicago Cubs vs. Jeff Samardzija (Giants)

Game one was a low scoring nail biter from start to finish. Javier Baez provided all the offense the Cubs would need with  a solo home run in the 8th inning as they went on to win 1-0 to take the series lead. Look for a little more offense tonight as they get a much better matchup vs. Samardzija. Not that he is a bad pitcher but rather Cueto being in the near elite category as he shut down the Cubs for the most part. The Shark doesn't strike out many batters(7.39 K/9 rate) and walks close to 2.5 per nine. The Cubs faced Samardzija back on September 1st where they recorded three earned on five hits in four innings. Look for  a big offensive output as the Cubs try to take a strangle hold on the series.

Also Consider: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Tanner Roark (Nationals)

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Kyle Hendricks (SP, CHC) $9,500

After a low scoring 1-0 shutout of the Giants in game one the Cubs are once again big home favorites as they look to take control of the series before heading to San Francisco. Hendricks is the most expensive option on the small slate but still only in the mid $9K range. He was very impressive for the league leading Cubs as he recorded a career high 16 wins and 2.13 ERA over 30 starts. The Giants don't strike out a ton vs. right handed pitching (17%) which limits the upside but he is the clear top option today.

Rich Hill  (SP, LAD) $9,000

Hill make a nice pivot of Hendricks in tournaments at a $500 discount. The Dodgers homered their way to a game one victory as Kershaw struck out seven batters over five innings. He did give up three earned runs on eight hits but the bullpen shut the Nats down over the final four innings. The Nats have struck out nearly 23% of the time over the last 30 days while Hill enters the night with an elite 10.52 K//9 rate over 20 starts this season. Look for the Dodgers to seize control of teh series tonight on the back of a strong performance from Hill.

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Willson Contreras (C, CHC) $2,900

Should be back behind the plate today after a day off Friday night in game one. Contreras comes with a nice price under $3K and has recorded a hit in 10 of his previous 11 games played. He is safe in all formats.

Adrian Gonzalez (1B, LAD) $2,900

He went hitless in game one but came into the playoffs red hot with hits in 12 of his last 14 regular season games. Look for him to get in on the hit parade Saturday afternoon against Tanner Roark who he has hit a home run against in four career at bats.

Chase Utley (2B, LAD) $2,900

The Dodgers leadoff hitter is still providing excellent fantasy value at the ripe age of 37 years old. He isn;t the player he once was with the Phillies but he still recorded 14 home runs with 79 runs scored this season.

Javier Baez (SS, CHC) $2,900

He was the hero last night picking up two hits including the only run of the game coming off a solo blast late. He gets a downgrade over Russell due to spot in the order but hs been the more consistent of the two this season with a .273 average and added 12 stolen bases.

Anthony Rendon (3B, WSH) $3,100

Rendon makes a great picot off Bryant and Turner who should be the two highest owned at the position today. Rendon provided the offense in game one with two hits, two runs batted in and 13 FanDuel points. He has recorded a hit in seven of his last nine games including two home runs and nine RBI.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Dexter Fowler (OF, CHC) $3,600 / Chris Coghlan (OF, CHC) $2,800

The Cubs are big favorites(-185) and should easily score more than one run today against Samardzija. If you are leaning you better consider the leadoff hitter Dexter Fowler who got on base at an elite rate(.393) this season. If he is starting, Chris Coghlan makes a nice value play and BvP play of the day with four hits in 11 at bats vs. Samardzija with two home runs.

Bryce Harper (OF, WSH) $3,500

The contrarian choice for the day is Bryce Harper in a tough lefty/lefty matchup vs. Hill. He did pick up a double against Kershaw last night so don't worry too much about the matchup. You get an elite hitter in mid $3K prices with a ton of upside despite the inconsistency.

Angel Pagan (OF, SF) $2,800

If there is a Giants hitter to get on today it's Angel Pagan hitting out of the five and six hole.  He picked up a double in game one as the Giants got shutout and comes into the playoffs red hot. He has hits in four straight and seven of his last 10 games including five multi hit games. The price is hard to beat for that production.
