DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (7/9/16): MLB DFS Advice

Welcome back to another day of daily fantasy baseball. Today we have a split slate with nine early games and five main slate games. The Blue Jays and Tigers game is not offered on DraftKings today.

The pitching options are lead by elite ace Max Scherzer and surrounded by other top and middle tier options giving us plenty of options for lineup construction today. Let's take a look at some top plays for today.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 7/9/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Miami Marlins vs. John Lamb (Reds)

The Marlins make one of the top stacking options on the slate today. They matchup vs. John Lamb who is coming off his worst outing of the season where he gave up eight hits and eight earned runs to the Nationals. He struck out five batters but got himself into trouble with four walks and was punished with three home runs. His ERA may seem inflated at 5.43 but the xFIP isn't much better and sits at 5.01 halfway through the season. Build around Giancarlo Stanton who is back to his old self crushing home runs.

Chicago White Sox vs. Joel De La Cruz (Braves) **Update - Julio Teheran will make the start for the Braves**

The White Sox get a matchup vs. one of the worst pitchers on the slate today and make an elite stacking option. Joel De La Cruz has made two starts this season for the Braves and has given up 16 hits in 12 innings pitched including three home runs. It is a small sample size but the 5.25 ERA and 4.97 xFIP don't suggest he is going to hold onto a job very long. Look for the White Sox to help him find his way back to the minor leagues.

Also Consider - Washington Nationals vs. Logan Verrett (Mets)

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Carlos Martinez (SP, STL) $9,300

The wins have been hard to come by lately bt Martinez has been pitching great since the end of May. He has picked up three wins in his previous seven starts with an impressive 1.46 ERA. His strikeout rate is slightly below average at 7.04 K/9 but will receive a boost on Saturday vs. the Brewers who are striking out 26% of the time vs. right handed pitching.

Max Scherzer (SP, WSH) $13,700

The top pitching option on Saturday and it isn't really close. Scherzer has been absolutely dominant sinec the start of June with an elite 1.90 ERA and 12.36 K/9 rate and has limited opponents to two earned runs or less in six of his last seven starts. The Nationals are big road favorites(-190) in a game with a 7.5 vegas total vs. the Mets who rank 18th in wOBA and strikeout 22.4% of the time vs. right handed pitching.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Buster Posey (C, SF) $4,100

There is no reason why Posey should not be the top priced option today. While the average has dipped below .300 this season the power upside is still there as he has already recorded 11 home runs and 41 RBI this season. He has been extremely consistent lately as well with hits in eight of his last nine games including two doubles and three home runs.

Paul Goldschmidt (1B, ARI) $4,400

Goldy comes into the Saturday as the 12th most expensive option at first base. This would make sense if he was facing an elite pitcher but he is facing Jake Peavy. While he has pitched quite well as of late he still holds a poor 5.14 ERA and 5.06 xFIP on the season. The strikeout rate is below average and he is only producing a 36% ground ball rate which could get him into trouble vs. the huge power upside that Goldy possesses.

DJ LeMahieu (2B, COL) $4,400

LeMahieu is a very affordable option if you are wanting exposure to Coors Field today. He hits out of the two hole and has been red hot over the last few weeks. He is slashing .436/.483/.545 since June 20th with an impressive 165 wRC+ for the Rockies. The matchup is not elite but Eickhoff is due for regression with a 4.08 xFIP and 11.9% HR/FB rate. Coors should help him get to that regression a little faster.

Brad Miller (SS, TB) $4,100

Miller has proved to be a very valuable asset to the Rays hitting out of the two hole. He started out the season slow but has been very consistent since mid June slashing .289/.322/.578 with seven home runs and a 140 wRC+. He has faced Rick Porcello in two previous games going two for eight with both hits going for home runs.

Luis Valbuena (3B, HOU) $4,000

There is no one hotter at the third base position than Valbuena right now. He went off last night with three hits including his 12th home run of the season. He has now picked up a hit in five straight games including three home runs and eight runs driven in with six runs scored. Ride the hot streak into Saturdays matchup with Kendall Graveman who is pitching to a 4.69 xFIP with a 14.5% HR/FB rate.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Giancarlo Stanton (OF, MIA) $5,500

Stanton is back and on an absolute tear lately with hits in five straight and six of his last games. He finished the series with the Mets going back to back games with multiple home runs bringing his season total to 19 to go along with the 47 runs he has driven in. He has more raw power than any other hitter in baseball and gets an elite matchup vs. gas can John Lamb and his 17% HR/FB rate an 5.43 ERA on the season.

Adam Jones (OF, BAL) $4,400

Jones is an amazing value today coming in with a six game hit streak and now has hits in 17 of his last 18 games for the Orioles. He had a very slow start to the year but turned it around when he was moved to the leadoff spot and has been slashing .296/.329/.553 since June 1st. Hitting leadoff, Jones should get lots of opportunities against Nick Tropeano who is walking over four batters per nine innings and pitching to an awful 5.05 xFIP.

Alex Dickerson (OF, SD) $2,600

After a night where Dickerson was a home run away form the cycle he was at it again on Friday picking up two more hits and pushing his hit streak to four games. He is spending most of his time hitting out of the five and six hole and while he doesn't carry a ton of upside is a perfect fit for a cash game. His low salary gives you a ton of flexibility with the rest of your lineup.
