MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers - DraftKings Advice for 4/4/16

You will have to forgive me if I come off a bit out of touch with baseball today. Sunday night’s episode of The Walking Dead is still on my mind. Who did Negan kill!? Was it Glenn, Abraham, Darryll? We won’t even know for a few months.

Looks like I will have to rely on plenty of MLB DraftKings to assuage my inquisitive nature. Remember that the beginning of the season can be quite fickle, so today’s picks may be somewhat unconventional.

My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try and identify MLB players who will outperform their expectations today, based on their matchups and FanDuel prices. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be value pick sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value for your DFS lineups. Let’s get to it.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Clayton Kershaw, LAD at SD - $12,900

Not quite sure why I would give a reasoning, but here it is. The guy is a stud. An absolute stud. He struck out 301 batters last year, and I’m willing to bet that a healthy portion of those 301 were Padres. You stay classy, San Diego.

Madison Bumgarner, SF at MIL - $9,200

Boy that price seems a bit low, doesn’t it? Though Kershaw is dominant, you could have MadBum for nearly $4,000 less and get similar upside. The 26-year-old Giant struck out nearly 27% of batters last season and we’re ready for an encore this year.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Devin Mesoraco, CIN vs. PHI - $3,200

It didn’t take long before my first pick for a guy going up against the Phillies. 2016 may be a new year, but we’re going to get some similar results!

First Base (1B)

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI vs. COL - $5,500

Goldie is clearly the top premier play of the day at first base and it really isn’t close. Plenty of Diamondbacks will get the chance to tee off on Jorge de la Rosa on Opening Day. There’s no bigger Diamondback than Goldie.

Second Base (2B)

Logan Forsythe, TB vs. TOR - $3,100

If you don’t roster the all-around DFS monster that is Brian Dozier, than plucking Forsythe off the list is the next best move. He will starting the season as the Rays’ lead-off man, a move which shocked a Forsythe lover such as myself. This is merely a fingers-crossed upside pick against R.A. Dickey. I’m counting on at-bats here.

Shortstop (SS)

Troy Tulowitzki, TOR at TB - $3,600

I get that there are a lot of young guns coming into the league at the shortstop position and I get that they are all amazing talents. But why is Tulo listed as the 10th-most expensive shortstop? Hmmmm.

Third Base (3B)

Josh Donaldson, TOR at TB - $4,200

Like Goldschmidt, Donaldson is going to have to find a way into your lineup. He is an absolute lefty masher. For his career, the guy owns a .411 wOBA and a wRC+ of 167. And he is priced as the seventh-most expensive third baseman.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Bryce Harper, WAS at ATL - $4,500

You have to take advantage of owning Bryce when his price is this low? I get that DraftKings starts the season with soft pricing, but this is just too, too low.

Chris Colabello, TOR at TB - $2,700

To counter some of that cap space, look for a value play in someone like Colabello. He usually starts his seasons on fire, especially against left-handed pitchers. Last season, he finished with a .400 wOBA against southpaws even after cooling down immensely in the second half of the season.
