NBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks - FanDuel DFS Basketball Advice for 2/21/16

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Wow. What a full slate of games on tap for the NBA in this post-NFL world we now live in. For months my girlfriend and friends have been begging me to leave the living room on Sundays, something I wasn’t able to do and I think we all know why. It’ll be tough to explain how even though it is a different sport, it’ll be the same result. Thank you, NBA, for making the bonds stronger!

In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for FanDuel for 2/21/16. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays. Be sure to check out my podcast every Monday and Thursday right here at Rotoballer for all your DFS needs.

Without wasting anymore time, let's get down to it!

FanDuel DFS Point Guards

Russell Westbrook (vs CLE, $10,900)

Just because I try to play him every single night. He’s that good.

Mike Conley (at TOR, $6,900)

Somebody has to pick up the scoring with Marc Gasol injured and now Courtney Lee and Jeff Green out of town. That somebody appears to be Conley, who went 24/4/7 in his last game. That should be the norm for the Grizz for the rest of the year, starting Sunday against a tough Raptors squad.

Derrick Rose (vs LAL, $6,800)

With two full slates on board for Sunday, it can be rather hard trying to pinpoint which players are due for optimal performance. There is one strategy that remains true, time and time again. It’s called “pick on the Lakers.” Today, D Rose will get that chance to expand on his already solid numbers with Jimmy Butler out.

Reggie Jackson (vs NOP, $6,500)

Ugh. I find myself looking in Jackson’s direction on the reg, but I rarely use him just because of the seemingly non-stop boneheaded mistakes. It was also tough to give him a roster given that Brandon Jennings was eating up some of his court time. Jennings is gone now, and when Jennings does not play for the Pistons, Jackson’s usage rate climbs by about four percentage points to just over 30% of all plays. I got no problems with Reggie on Sunday.

FanDuel DFS Shooting Guards

Nicolas Batum (at BKN, $6,800)

The Hornets are all sorts of banged up coming out of the break, so Batum was expected to shoulder a lot of the scoring load in their last game. He put up a 3-for-11 stinker, sending me into the corner to sulk. But that won’t last long. He is too good of a player to remain passive, and it starts against a Nets squad that have given up the second most to opposing two guards.

Avery Bradley (at DEN, $5,600)

Considering that Bradley is just a scorer and not much else, his price is getting relatively high. The good news, though? The C’s get the exploitable Nuggets. Bradley should have no problem taking advantage of Denver’s perimeter defense that has been shaky at best all season.

J.R. Smith (at OKC, $5,100)

J.R. has never taken a shot he didn’t like- all trillion of them- and he should get plenty of shot-taking chances on Sunday in an up and down game in Oklahoma City. Opposing two guards have had spotty success against the Thunder this season and Smith has been productive in random spots. I guess what I’m trying to say is that he is a flier in a GPP at best.

Wesley Matthews (vs PHI, $4,100)

Players that are mediocre tend to dismantle the Sixers. Maybe because they get more minutes in a blowout or maybe because Philadelphia is atrocious at playing defense. Maybe both. Either way, there’s no more mediocre player for the Mavericks than Matthews. He should deliver a nice return on value.

FanDuel DFS Small Forwards

LeBron James (at OKC, $10,100)

He has the highest floor of any player not named Westbrook almost every night. But do you trust him for $10k against KD and the Thunder? I would like to think so, but maybe not in cash games and double ups.

Chandler Parsons (vs PHI, $6,800)

Parsons has now dropped over 40 FanDuel points in two of his last three games and the minutes restriction is a thing way in the past. Plus he is playing the Sixers. Dallas usually plays in tight games, meaning that Parsons should see plenty of court time.

Jae Crowder (at DEN, $5,900)

Thorough research shows that Denver swingman Danilo Gallinari owns a DRating of 110, or a number that is not good. Is there any chance he will slow down Crowder on both ends of the floor in an up tempo game? No. No He will not.

Kyle Anderson (at PHO, $3,700)

Should Kawhi Leonard not suit up again, Anderson makes a whole lot of sense with his next to bare minimum price tag.

FanDuel DFS Power Forwards

Anthony Davis (at DET, $9,900)

Unibrow is going to do some uni-burning on those Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Bet on that. Unless of course he gets hurt in the first three minutes, which is equally possible. If that happens, then of course the only ones getting burned are those of us making the childish move of giving him a roster spot.

Thaddeus Young (vs CHA, $6,900)

Thaddeus “Double-Double” Young is as close to a lock to record 35-39 FanDuel points just about every night. Marvin Williams will most likely start again, but there’s no telling how his recent injury may play out.

Jared Sullinger (at DEN, $6,000)

Is it possible that Sullinger gained more weight during the All Star Break? No word yet out of the Boston camp about his weight, however he is the only legitimate frontcourt player from the C’s getting a run of 30 minutes. If coach Brad Stevens is going to run him for most of the court time against the weak Denver Nuggets, the upside is too hard to ignore.

Bobby Portis (vs LAL, $4,100)

We’re still not quite sure why Portis isn’t starting over Taj Gibson yet. To me at least, it feels like Portis is just a few games away from claiming that starter’s role. In the meantime, Portis is still getting a run of 23-29 minutes off the bench, which is a nice number for a $4,100 player. On Sunday, he will anchor a second unit against a Lakers squad that allows all sorts of points to big men.

FanDuel DFS Centers

Pau Gasol (vs LAL, $8,900)
Gasol against his former team?! A team that just happens to be the worst against Gasol’s respective position?! Sign me up!

Zaza Pachulia (vs PHI, $5,900)

Big men that can rebound absolutely demolish the Philadelphia frontcourt. Zaza is a big man that can rebound, as evidenced by his monster 19 board performance in the Mavericks last game against Orlando. His injury woes are long gone and his minutes are trending higher and higher. I actually like him even more than Gasol in the late slate.

Boban Marjanovic (at PHO, $3,500)

Hashtag Boban Mania. Look it up. It’s real. Boban’s upside is absolutely unreal. If you look up highlights on YouTube or any other reels, watch him tear down a board on one end, coast the court and then slam it down to finish his own possession. It was flawless. Unfortunately he doesn’t make sense to roster unless you absolutely believe the Spurs are going to blow out the Suns. If they do, Boban will dominate garbage time.
