NFL Week 1 DFS Value Picks on Draftster.com

Draftster.com

Before we dig into our DFS value picks for NFL Week 1, we should understand the format of the game we're playing. Draftster.com offers salary cap style DFS games, though they do it with a style and super-clean user interface unmatched by other DFS sites.  The lineup is pretty standard: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, K, DEF.

Draftster is offering a $1,000 free roll for this Sunday (9/7), meaning the tournament is FREE to enter, and you could win as much as $200 for 1st place.  Oh, did we mention that RotoBaller can get you an extra$200 free as a deposit bonus?  Just click this link to sign up, make a deposit, get your free $200 bonus, and then enter the free roll to win another $200.

Deposit Bonus - $200 bonus - 600x150 RB

The scoring of each DFS site is always worth considering before deciding what positions to spend big on and where to look for value picks. In this case, the scoring is PPR (point per reception), and there are passing, receiving and rushing bonuses.  What this means is we might look to boom or bust players who will see a lot of targets. Here are some great value picks at QB, RB and WR for Week 1 of your DFS experience on Draftster.comSalary cap is 50K.

Quarterback Value Picks for NFL DFS Week 1

Matthew Stafford ($7,800) - Stafford is $1,200 cheaper than the top options at QB, and he's somehow in the same price range as Kaep and RG3, despite having a fantastic matchup vs. the Giants secondary.  With the addition of Golden Tate to the receiving corp, and Lions' staples Bush, Bell and Megatron, Stafford should easily surpass the 300 yard bonus mark.  If you're going to spend relatively big at QB (and this isn't the position that we'd encourage you to skimp on), but you don't want to shell out the 9K for Brees or Manning, ride Stafford to a solid 22-25 point day.

Jay Cutler ($7,200) - If you want to save even more at QB, Cutler is a very nice option with tons of upside. The Bills' D does not look like anything special in 2014. Cutler has some ridiculous weapons with Alshon Jeffery, Brandon Marshall and Matt Forte. We love his chances to put up a 300 yard, 2 TD game and be in the 20-22 point range.

Running Back Value Picks for NFL DFS Week 1

Montee Ball ($6,000) - Ball is the 8th most expensive back, and significantly less than the premier options at the position. Considering he's the 5th ranked RB for Week 1 on FantasyPros.com PPR Rankings, he represents a good value here. Every running back in Peyton Manning's systems does well, and Ball has tons of talent. He should shred IND and reach that 100 yard bonus, in addition to a handful of dumpoffs.  We like Ball for a big 21-22 pt day.

Toby Gerhart ($5,200) - You won't find many guys this cheap who are primed to carry the load for their team.  With Chad Henne under center, and receiving options that inspire no confidence beyond Cecil Shorts, Gerhart is primed for a huge day. The Eagles had a top 10 run D in 2013, but Gerhart is an every down back who should see at least 20 carries and maybe even more than 25.  Gerhart should have a very good chance to crack the 100 yard bonus mark.

Wide Receiver Back Value Picks for NFL DFS Week 1

Alshon Jeffery ($6,800) - Anytime you're spending $6,800 on a receiver, it's not really a "value" play, but Jeffrey is the cheapest of the elite WRs, and $400 less than Brandon Marshall. We like his chances to put up as big a day as Marshall, and the Buffalo secondary does not scare us very much. Roll with Jeffery and you should likely surpass the 100 yard bonus mark in Week 1.

Golden Tate ($4,900) - Golden Tate is primed for a big day against the Giants. He's priced at the same level as Mike Evans, Rueben Randle, Terrence Williams, and Cecil Shorts, but he has much bigger upside than all those guys. The Giants secondary will blanket Megatron, and Tate, who's expected to be utilized outside and inside the slot, will be a shady but solid bet for 10+ targets as Megatron frees up space for him. We like the Tate / Stafford connection for a big day in Week 1.
