Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert picked up where he left off last season, catching four of five targets for 77 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 24-22 win over Washington. He led Philadelphia in receiving yards despite Jalen Hurts attempting only 25 passes, and his five targets were second on the team.
Goedert scored 11 times in 2025, so another two-touchdown performance immediately makes last year's breakout look a little harder to dismiss as touchdown luck. The 77 yards matter just as much. Goedert topped that mark only twice all of last season, and Philadelphia now has a different-looking target tree after trading A.J. Brown during the offseason. DeVonta Smith remains the top receiving option, but Goedert showed in Week 1 that there is room for him to stay heavily involved. His fantasy stock is clearly higher coming out of the opener, with another top-10 tight end season looking more realistic than it did a week ago.
Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. caught just two of his three targets for 21 yards during Sunday's Week 1 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 22-year-old is looking to build on an impressive rookie campaign in which he ranked as the TE6 with 72 catches, 731 yards, and six touchdowns. He still has that top-six upside, but Sunday's disappointing game is a step in the wrong direction.
Fannin's struggles were partly the product of poor quarterback play, as Deshaun Watson finished with just 16 completions, 205 yards, one interception, and one garbage-time touchdown. If there's any reason to be optimistic, it's that the Browns project to be trailing a lot this year, so they'll consistently be looking to throw the football. That bodes well for Fannin's volume share, but he might not get a ton of opportunities near the end zone if the Browns struggle to sustain drives. For now, Fannin is a fringe top-12 fantasy tight end heading into Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz was a featured piece in his team's passing game in Week 1, recording four catches for 35 yards on eight targets in Houston's 36-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills. While Schultz's lack of downfield ability limits his fantasy upside, he averaged over six targets per game in 2025 and scored double-digit PPR points in eight out of 12 contests after Houston's Week 6 bye.
With Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins (knee) out for the season after suffering a torn ACL in training camp, Schultz could end up being the number two option in the Houston passing game behind star wideout Nico Collins. The veteran Schultz also has a favorable matchup on paper in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals, who were one of the worst defenses against tight ends last season. In leagues where he's available on the waiver wire, Schultz profiles as a priority tight end streamer.
Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer took advantage of the starting job in Sunday's 27-13 win over Miami, catching six passes for 32 yards with Brock Bowers sidelined following a meniscus procedure. The yardage wasn't much, but six catches are enough to get attention at tight end. Mayer has done this before when the Raiders needed more from him. In the four games he played without Bowers last season, he totaled 18 receptions for 196 yards, accounting for more than half of his season production in both categories.
Las Vegas also signed Mayer to a multi-year extension just before the opener. His Week 2 appeal now comes down largely to Bowers' availability. Bowers was initially expected to miss a game or two, so another start against the Chargers remains possible. If Bowers sits again, Mayer belongs near the top of the tight end streaming options on the waiver wire. His short-term fantasy value drops quickly once Bowers returns.
Kyle Pitts Sr., Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. was unable to haul in his lone target during Sunday's Week 1 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was an incredibly frustrating outing for Pitts, who was looking to build on last year's career-best TE2 finish in PPR leagues. Some of his struggles can be attributed to poor quarterback play, as the Falcons opened the season with third-string quarterback Cooper Rush under center.
Rush finished the season opener with just 12 completions, two interceptions, and four sacks, making life difficult for the Falcons' receivers. There's a good chance that Atlanta will have either Michael Penix Jr. (knee) or Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) back next week, which bodes well for Pitts' fantasy outlook going forward. For the time being, managers can chalk this one up to quarterback struggles, with the expectation that he'll return to his mid-to-low TE1 form soon.
