High-Confidence Strikeout Picks
All odds were current as of 8:30 AM
Bryce Miller OVER 4.5 strikeouts (-127 Novig)
Bryce Miller enters this matchup with the Nationals today with a 1.33 ERA through his first five starts this season! More importantly, his strikeout rate is up to 29% and backed by a career-high 13.2% SwStr%.

He's coming off a 9-strikeout game against the Tigers and looks as good as he has in the last two years. The velocity on his four-seam fastball is up, the splitter has been nasty, and he's upped his use of the slider, too, to help complement his top two pitches. This line is just too low for a pitcher who has shown the type of strikeout ability that Miller has this season. Smash this number before these odds move too much further!
Roki Sasaki OVER 4.5 strikeouts (-141 Novig)
Like Miller, Sasaki is coming off his best start of the season as he whiffed 10 Angels over seven shutout frames his last time out. The Dodgers' righty has really shown signs that he's figured things out lately. The walks are down, while the strikeouts are up, as Sasaki seems to have finally harnessed his good stuff.

He has five strikeouts or more in seven of 11 starts this year, and while there's some juice here, I still love this bet as I think he'll cruise to at least five more strikeouts tonight against a White Sox offense that has struck out the eighth-most of any MLB team vs. RHP over the last two weeks. The projected lineup of Chicago hitters has also never seen Sasaki before!
Jack Leiter OVER 4.5 strikeouts (-135 Novig)
Leiter has flashed big-time strikeout potential a few times this season with a pair of 10-strikeout games. He's also had some stinkers in there, too, where he's only whiffed a few hitters and been hit hard. However, this line is too low today, in my opinion, as Leiter has at least five strikeouts in eight of his 13 starts this season.

Boston ranks ninth in K% vs. RHP over the last two weeks at 22.9%. That's slightly over league average, but their offensive production (75 wRC+) has been the third-worst over that span. I think there's less blowup potential for Leiter here, so without an early exit, I love his chances at five strikeouts in five or six innings.
Tatsuya Imai OVER 4.5 strikeouts (-115 Novig)
Imai's rookie year has been pretty turbulent as he really struggled early this year and then spent some time on the IL with an injury. However, he's allowed only four earned runs total over his last three starts spanning 17 innings. In those three most recent starts, he's whiffed 15 hitters, going for five or more twice.

He had his best stuff on display in his last start, sitting down eight Athletics via the strikeout for a season/career high. He's sitting at 24% K% and a 12.1% SwStr% so far this year, and will have the benefit of this being the first time that any Royals hitters have faced him before.
