Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski posted his fifth three-point game of the season on Tuesday night, helping Rick Bowness enjoy a winning debut as the team's new head coach in a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames. Werenski scored a power-play goal in the third period and finished with two even-strength assists. It was Werenski's 15th consecutive home appearance with at least one point. Werenski is now just three points behind Colorado's Cale Makar in the battle for the NHL's highest-scoring defenseman honors. He has recorded 50 points (17 goals, 33 assists) in 42 contests. Werenski could soon move past Makar, as Columbus will play six of its next seven games on home ice.--Taavi Pailk
