Penguins Place Erik Karlsson on Injured Reserve
Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson (lower body) was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. The team plans to re-evaluate the three-time Vezina Trophy winner in two weeks. Karlsson has recorded 33 points (four goals, 29 assists), 94 shots, and 40 blocks with a minus-one rating in 44 appearances this season. Jack St. Ivany is projected to replace Karlsson in the lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, although the team also recalled Ryan Greaves from the minors for added defensive depth. With Karlsson out, Kris Letang will move to the first power-play unit, giving him extra fantasy value.
