Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews (lower body) will return to the lineup for Thursday's matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. The Maple Leafs captain missed Tuesday's 4-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils due to a lower-body injury. Matthews has failed to match his high standards in 2025-26, but he finished 2025 on a high. The star forward has managed four points (one goal, three assists) over his last two appearances, reaching 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) for the season. Unfortunately, Matthews has once again been bothered by injuries, appearing in only 33 of 39 games. On Thursday, Matthews will center the first line, working with Max Domi and Matthews Knies. John Tavares will drop to the second line, joining Bobby McMann and Matias Maccelli.--Taavi Pailk
