Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn (upper body) underwent surgery for a collapsed lung, the team announced Thursday. Benn was injured during Tuesday's preseason contest against the Minnesota Wild and was initially listed as day-to-day. However, he is now expected to be out for at least four weeks. Given Benn's recovery timeline, the Stars might have to be without their captain for at least the first seven regular-season games. During training camp, Benn most recently worked on a line with Matt Duchene and Tyler Seguin. His absence opens up power-play time and a spot among the top-nine forwards in Dallas.--Taavi Pailk
