Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Atlanta Falcons D/ST
The Falcons' defense was impressive in last week's win over the Vikings. This unit totaled six sacks, forced three turnovers, and held Minnesota's offense to just six points. More importantly. Atlanta's defense generated pressure on 53% of dropbacks in that contest.
The Dirty Birds' scrappy defense will be a strong start for fantasy managers willing to take the chance in Week 3 against a Panthers offense that will be without two starting offensive linemen.
The Carolina Panthers' second-year quarterback, Bryce Young, was already sacked three times last week, and this Atlanta Falcons defense looks like a whole different unit in 2025. That makes this group a smash start in most formats.
Green Bay Packers, DST
It is wild that the Green Bay Packers D/ST is still rostered in under 50% of ESPN leagues. This might be the best defense in football right now. The Packers held two high-powered offenses, the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, to under 20 points in both of their games this season. In both contests, the Lions and Commanders didn't have any answers against that Green Bay defense.
The Packers totaled four sacks in each of their first two games, and we all know the impact that Micah Parsons has had in the early part of the season. Parsons has a 90.2 PFF pass rush grade, 10 pressures, 1 1/2 sacks, and a 25% pass rush win rate to begin his Green Bay career.
The Green Bay Packers' dominant-looking defense will go up against a marginal Cleveland Browns this weekend. That makes this unit a smash start in Week 3. Even though the Packers will play the Cowboys in Week 4 and have a bye week in Week 5, this defense needs to be rostered in every format. Green Bay's D/ST will be a must-start in Week 3 against the Browns and a must-start in Week 6 against the Bengals. So, pick up this unit now because this could very well be the last time this defense is available in your league.
Indianapolis Colts, D/ST
The Colts' defense has looked solid in the first two weeks under new defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Although this unit didn't really produce much last week, this defense did make the Dolphins offense look silly back in Week 1. Indianapolis allowed just eight offensive points, sacked Tua Tagovailoa three times, and forced three turnovers in that contest.
As a result, fantasy managers should feel confident rolling with this defense in Week 3. The Colts will be going up against a Titans offense that has been all out of sorts through the first two weeks. Cam Ward has been sacked a league-high 11 times, and this Tennessee team has only scored one touchdown on the year so far.
Following that Week 3 game, this defense could be used again in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders' offensive line is certainly a work in progress after it ranked in the bottom 10 in both pressure rate allowed and pass block win rate back in Week 1.
Seattle Seahawks D/ST
The Seahawks are in a prime spot to continue their early-season success on defense in Week 2. Seattle has allowed just 17 points in consecutive games, has forced four turnovers, totaled four sacks, and now gets a fantastic matchup against the Saints.
Seattle ranks in the top half of the league in pressure rate so far this season, while New Orleans' offensive line ranks in the bottom 10 in pass block win rate. That makes this defense one of the best plays of the week.
The Seahawks should be able to get to second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler a ton in this game and have the potential to force a few turnovers as well. They make for a top streaming defense for fantasy managers in Week 3.
Buccaneers D/ST
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Calijah Kancey (pectoral) will miss the rest of the season after suffering a pectoral injury in Monday night's one-point win over the Houston Texans, sources told Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. Losing the former first-rounder will be a big blow to a stingy Bucs run defense the rest of the way in 2025.
The 24-year-old is most likely dealing with a torn pec muscle that will require surgery. Tampa's interior defensive line is still formidable with Vita Vea filling up gaps, but Kancey's loss cannot be overstated.
With Kancey out the rest of the way, both Elijah Roberts and Greg Gaines will be asked to do more next to Vea and Logan Hall. Since entering the league in 2023, Kancey has 11.5 sacks and 55 tackles (42 solo) for the Bucs in 28 starts
