ANALYSIS: After competing for the starting job alongside rookie RJ Harvey during the preseason and training camp, the veteran J.K. Dobbins was able to establish himself as the lead option during their opening victory over the Tennessee Titans. In this contest, the former Charger dominated the backfield as he took the ball 16 times for 63 yards and a touchdown.
In this contest, Harvey flashed solid upside as he ran for 70 yards, but only took the ball six times, suggesting he is the clear No. 2. While managers should expect Harvey to push for a larger role as the season progresses, for the time being, Dobbins figures to be given the opportunity.
Last season, Dobbins enjoyed a career season playing for the Chargers, totaling 905 yards and nine touchdowns across 13 games. During this season, Dobbins posted an elite 4.6 YPC, which was the third-highest mark of his career.
Even though the Broncos will be facing an Indianapolis defense that shut down the Miami offense, the Broncos will likely lean on their rushing attack as their passing game struggled in Week 1. As a result, Dobbins has a low-end RB2 value/high-end flex value as he should be given 15+ touches and most of the opportunities in the red zone once again.
