Week 2 Kicker Streamers and Starts - 2025 Fantasy Tiers, Rankings

Jake Bates - Fantasy Football Rankings, Kicker Waiver Wire Pickups, Streamers

Kacey Kasem looks at all 2025 fantasy football Week 2 kickers -- streamers, starts, sits, targets, avoids, and waiver wire pickups. Our Week 2 rankings and tiers for all of the NFL kickers.

Welcome back to our fantasy football kicker streamers, starts and tiered rankings for Week 2 of the 2025 season. If you want to convince folks that kickers aren't boring, direct them to the opening week. Chris Boswell drilled a 60-yard field goal, the longest of his career. Matt Prater, just called up from the practice squad, delivered a last-second field goal in the Bills' 41-40 win over the Ravens. And Browns rookie Andre Szmyt missed two critical kicks in a 17-16 loss to the Bengals. The highs and lows of kickers were on full display.

Evaluating the kicker position for Week 2 is about separating those steady streamers from the players best left on the bench. Streaming kickers is all about the matchup and the environment. A veteran in a dome with a high implied team total, that's what you want. The kicker on the road, taking on a stingy defense, often leads to disappointment.

For this week, I'm looking at three kickers who are widely available and worth starting. I'll also provide three familiar names that might not pay off in Week 2. The goal here isn't to chase last week's box scores but to anticipate where the best opportunities will be this week. Let's look at the Week 2 kickers to target and avoid, as well as my rankings.

Kicker Streamers to Target for Week 2

Only players rostered in fewer than 60% of fantasy football leagues are considered streamers.

Ka'imi Fairbairn (HOU) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
42% Rostered on Sleeper

Yes, I'm talking about him again. Ka'imi Fairbairn reminded us all why he is a steady fantasy asset with his Week 1 performance. He knocked in all three of his field goals, including a 53-yard try, and accounted for all of Houston's points in their 14-9 loss to the Rams. He ended the day with 14 fantasy points, making streamers take note.

Last season, Fairbairn connected on 35-of-42 field goals and 34-of-36 extra points, hitting a career-best 59-yarder. He'll attempt to improve on 2024's numbers with his Week 2 matchup with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay ranked in the top 10 in fantasy points given up to kickers last year. Fairbairn thrived off of stalled drives in Week 1, and this might play out again in Week 2.

Fairbairn shines from long distances, so he should be called upon plenty in this game. If the Texans can't find the end zone, Fairbairn will again be the primary source of scoring for the team. Although rostered in 42% of Sleeper leagues, you should check and see if he's available. Fairbairn is one of the safest streamers out there.

Matt Prater (BUF) at New York Jets
4% Rostered on Sleeper

Interesting to see the veteran's name here, but he enters the streaming radar thanks to opportunity. Tyler Bass is currently on injured reserve, and the Bills promoted Matt Prater in his absence. Prater wasted no time, scoring 12 fantasy points in Week 1 while showing his streaming prowess.

Entering Year 19, Prater is the perfect plug-and-play choice for fantasy managers who stream kickers. This week, he faces the Jets, and while this is a new season, New York conceded the third-most fantasy points to kickers in 2024. The Jets surrendered 22 field goals of 40-plus yards and seven double-digit games to kickers last year.

Boswell just put up 14 points against the Jets in Week 1, so the path is there for Prater to do the same. The vet will handle kicking duties from Weeks 1-4 while Bass is sidelined. Once Bass is healthy, Prater could be an afterthought. For now, he is a reliable, short-term option that is widely available on waivers.

Chad Ryland (ARI) vs. Carolina Panthers
2% Rostered on Sleeper

In Week 1, Chad Ryland went 2-for-3 on field goal attempts while nailing both of his extra points in the Cardinals' 20-13 victory over the Saints. He connected from a long of 50 yards out, and his only miss came on a blocked 46-yarder in the fourth quarter.

He knocked in 28-of-32 field goals and missed just once on 27 extra point tries in 2024. He'll look to improve on his numbers in a juicy matchup with the Panthers in Week 2. Carolina allowed Cam Little to tally 15 fantasy points last week.

Last year, the Panthers were the most generous defense to opposing kickers, allowing nearly 11 points per game to the position. Carolina surrendered the most extra points (54) and 28 field goals from 30+ yards last season. With a dream matchup and a strong and accurate leg, Ryland should be on your streaming radar.

Kickers to Avoid for Week 2

Matt Gay (WAS) at Green Bay Packers
30% Rostered on Sleeper

Matt Gay's first contest with the Commanders was a quiet one. He knocked in all three extra points, but he never got to attempt a field goal in the 21-6 victory over the Giants. The game flow was worrisome in Week 1, and now Washington travels to Green Bay.

Green Bay was one of the worst matchups for fantasy kickers last season. The Packers conceded the fifth-fewest points to kickers, wth just 23 field goals and 33 extra points allowed all year.

The Packers' defense tends to give up touchdowns or force punts. This combination is not great for kickers. Gay has a proven track record and has shown range and accuracy over his career, but this is not the week he should be in your starting lineup. Consider this a week to sit the kicker, but don't look at it as a knock on his season-long output. He'll be a viable choice this season, just not for every game.

Younghoe Koo (ATL) at Minnesota Vikings
52% Rostered on Sleeper

Update: Koo did not travel with the Falcons, and he is a healthy scratch for this Sunday's contest.

Atlanta's kicker didn't have the worst Week 1 for fantasy managers, though he did for Falcons' fans. He hit FGs from 41 and 36 yards, but he couldn't connect on a 44-yarder that would have sent the game into overtime against the Buccaneers.

Last season, Koo went just 25-of-34 on field goals while missing all three of his attempts from 50+ yards. He gets no favors this week as Atlanta heads to Minnesota. The Vikings surrendered the third-fewest fantasy points to kickers in 2024, allowing just 23 field goals, 31 extra points, and two makes from 50+. Koo already has distance issues. Add in his opponent, and that's a nightmare for fantasy managers.

Koo still has leg talent and has overcome hiccups in the past. He will bounce back in friendlier contests, but for Week 2, your best bet is to seek alternative options on waivers. He should be viewed as a stash until his schedule looks brighter.

The Falcons signed Parker Romo to the practice squad on Wednesday. Romo should not be your starting kicker if he wins the job.

Jason Myers (SEA) at Pittsburgh Steelers
2% Rostered on Sleeper

He wasn't asked to do a lot in Week 1, but Jason Myers did everything the team asked of him. He connected on two field goals and tacked on an extra point. His leg was accurate; not the issue. Myers just wasn't permitted to do more.

Seattle managed just 13 points in their first contest, a 17-13 loss to the 49ers. Now, Myers faces the Steelers in a matchup that isn't likely to be easier. The Steelers gave up the sixth-fewest fantasy points to the kicker position last season. Many Steelers contests end up being low-scoring, grind-it-out kind of games. That hurts the kicker's volume as fewer possessions equal fewer attempts at scoring.

Overall, Myers has been a reliable option and went 26-of-30 on field goals last season. Still, it doesn't matter how trustworthy he is if his kick attempts are capped. You can trust Myers as a whole this season, but for this week, he's better left on the bench. Find a kicker who is tied to a higher-total contest for the week.
