Kyle Allen Throws Two Touchdown Passes on Saturday
Kyle Allen got the start on Saturday in the team's third preseason game against the Miami Dolphins and played well. Allen completed 14 of 17 pass attempts for 124 yards and two touchdowns, finishing the night with a passer rating of 136.3. The veteran played the entire first half before being replaced by third-year signal-caller Hendon Hooker at the start of the third quarter. Allen and Hooker are competing for the QB2 job in Detroit behind Jared Goff, but Allen has now significantly outplayed Hooker in back-to-back preseason games. Based on how the two have performed this summer, Allen should be considered the favorite to open the season as the primary backup quarterback for the Lions.
