Roman Anthony Agrees to Eight-Year Extension
Roman Anthony has agreed to an eight-year, $130 million contract extension, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports. The deal, pending a physical, includes a club option and will keep Anthony under team control through the 2034 campaign. The contract begins in 2026 and carries a maximum value of $230 million. Anthony, the 79th pick in the 2022 draft, turned into arguably the best prospect in baseball and earned a promotion to the majors two months ago. The 21-year-old got off to a slow start after debuting June 9, but he has lived up to the hype since then. Anthony has slashed an impressive .283/.400/.428 with a 13.7% walk rate, two homers, 19 RBI, and two stolen bases across 46 games and 190 plate appearances. He has superstar potential and will be a long-term fixture in Boston's outfield.
