The San Diego Padres have selected left-handed pitcher Kruz Schoolcraft with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. Schoolcraft is a fluid mover at a towering 6'8", and sits 92-94 MPH with his fastball and the ability to reach 97. He has some two-way appeal, as he generated some buzz also as a first baseman. But most teams prefer him as a pitcher, given his impressive performances at various summer events. He has an advanced feel for his changeup and plays it effectively off his heater. Developing a reliable breaking ball will be an important element to monitor with the big lefty, as he would often go through full starts in high school without throwing it.
